General manager Dave Dombrowski believes that Jeremy Bonderman will be ready to claim a spot in the Tigers' rotation in 2010.
"He's healthy. His velocity was fine at the end of the year," Dombrowski said. "He just took a long time to bounce back from his surgery, but that's healed now." Bonderman gave up 10 earned runs in 10 1/3 innings this season, and though he has the potential to bounce back, the right-hander remains a risky proposition for next season.

Jeremy Bonderman was suspended for three games for his actions during Thursday's game.
Bonderman was retaliating for Twins pitcher Jose Mijares (who received a fine, no suspension) throwing a ball behind Adam Everett's back. Bonderman hit Delmon Young, who was so incense he had to be restrained from getting in Mijares' grill for perpetuating the situation. Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said that the Tigers had "done the right thing" in retaliating. It still doesn't get Bonderman off the hook. Bonderman is appealing, which will push his suspension to the start of 2010. Twins hitting coach Lloyd McClendon was also suspended a game as he was acting manager because Gardenhire was ejected during the Mijares/Everett flap.

Jeremy Bonderman was ejected from Thursday's game in the ninth inning for hitting Delmon Young with a pitch.
In an already testy game, the pitch was as intentional as it could be, though it was down on the leg at least. Bonderman still deserves a five- or six-game suspension that would carry over into 2010.

Jeremy Bonderman will be given a shot to recapture his spot in the starting rotation next season.
"I see no reason why he can't be in the rotation next year," manager Jim Leyland said Monday. "I like the fact he's healthy and his arm appears to be healthy. He should certainly be in the starting rotation." Bonderman has a 9.00 ERA and 2.30 WHIP in seven appearances (one start) this season.

Tigers activated RHP Jeremy Bonderman from the 15-day disabled list.
Bonderman was 0-3 with a 5.79 ERA in 13 relief appearances for Triple-A Toledo and will be used as a mop-up man in the big leagues. Tigers manager Jim Leyland assured the Detroit media Monday that the 26-year-old will not make a start.

The Tigers plan to activate Jeremy Bonderman (shoulder) from the disabled list when rosters expand Tuesday.
Bonderman was 0-3 with a 5.79 ERA in 13 relief appearances for Triple-A Toledo and will be used sparingly in a long relief role. Tigers manager Jim Leyland assured reporters Monday that there's "no chance" he'll draw a start.

Jeremy Bonderman (shoulder) tossed two scoreless innings at Triple-A Toledo on Monday and even earned a save.
Bonderman struck out three and displayed an incredible improvement on his fastball velocity. "He threw 95 mph," said Detroit manager Jim Leyland. "He's getting close, and that's good." He's expected to return to the Tigers as a reliever sometime around September 1.

Jeremy Bonderman (shoulder) is working on a splitter while on a rehabilitation assignment with Triple-A Toledo.
The hope is that Bonderman's new pitch could prove an effective compliment to his fastball and breaking ball. Bonderman used the pitch in four out of 13 pitches in a 1-2-3 inning for the Mud Hens on Tuesday. Regardless of the new pitch's efficacy, Bonderman likely won't return to the Tigers until the beginning of September.

Jeremy Bonderman (shoulder) tossed a hitless rehab inning Tuesday night at Triple-A Toledo.
Bonderman has two more scheduled relief outings, but won't be brought up immediately once he completes them. The Tigers will need to see something special from the right-hander before activating him. The last time he was in the majors, June 8, he allowed six earned runs on eight hits.

Both Jeremy Bonderman (shoulder) and Nate Robertson (elbow) will begin their injury rehab assignments at Triple-A Toledo Tuesday.
Bonderman started once on June 8th before going right back on the disabled list. Robertson got knocked out of the bullpen at the end of June. Both are likely to return in the beginning of September for the stretch drive.

Jeremy Bonderman threw a successful mound session Saturday and reported no pain or discomfort in his right shoulder.
He is expected to throw a simulated game against live hitters next weekend in Cleveland. "I think Bonderman is probably -- in some way, shape or form -- sooner than later," manager Jim Leyland said. "I think he's coming along pretty good, but I've learned not to get too excited." An early September return seems feasible if the right-hander can stay on track.

Tigers GM Dave Dombrowski said Friday morning that Jeremy Bonderman could return to the club "soon."
Both Dombrowski and manager Jim Leyland claim Bonderman has picked up considerable velocity in recent bullpen sessions. He'll probably begin a rehab assignment within the next few weeks.

Jeremy Bonderman (shoulder) threw off a mound for five minutes Tuesday.
It was a short workout, but marks significant progress in his rehab from a shoulder inflammation issue. "I know it feels better, freer," Bonderman said. "The velocity, I don't know about yet." He will throw off a mound again on Thursday, and is still aiming for an early September return.

Jeremy Bonderman (shoulder) played catch from 60 feet on Tuesday.
Bonderman surrendered six earned runs on eight hits June 8, during his only start of the season. The Tigers quickly placed him on the disabled list soon after and basically wrote him off for the rest of '09. He's confident he can return. "It feels like I took a month off, so it feels pretty good," the right-hander said Tuesday. "All the inflammation and everything's out of there. Hopefully this time, it just stays out."

Jeremy Bonderman (shoulder) is set to begin a throwing program Monday.
Bonderman allowed six runs on eight hits in his only start this season, displaying a fastball that barely reached into the mid-80s. He was placed on the disabled list June 12 for "continued rehabilitation from thoracic outlet compression syndrome" and probably shouldn't be counted on in '09.

Jeremy Bonderman (shoulder) is expected to begin a throwing program shortly after the fourth of July.
Bonderman was placed on the disabled list June 12 for "continued rehabilitation from thoracic outlet compression syndrome." He allowed six runs on eight hits in his only start this season and will probably be asked to spend a long time navigating the Tigers' farm system once he's ready for live action. We're not counting on him in '09.

Jeremy Bonderman is hoping to return to the Tigers by September.
Bonderman was placed on the disabled list Friday for "continued rehabilitation from thoracic outlet compression syndrome." He allowed six runs on eight hits in his return to the Tigers' rotation last week and will probably spend a good deal of time navigating the club's farm system.

Tigers placed RHP Jeremy Bonderman on the 15-day disabled list for "continued rehabilitation from thoracic outlet compression syndrome."
Translation: the Tigers were very disappointed in Monday's outing, and Bonderman isn't ready to contribute. This means Dontrelle Willis gets a reprieve, and stays in the rotation for now.

The Tigers haven't decided on a followup start for Jeremy Bonderman after he struggled in Monday's outing.
"Overall, his debut was not good," manager Jim Leyland said. "That's what I was quoted as saying last night and I'm sticking to my story. I'm also sticking to my story that it was his first time out (in a year) so you give him a little slack." Bonderman's spot comes up again on Sunday, but Leyland says that starter is "to be determined." Dontrelle Willis, with a 9.64 in his last three starts, is the other option.

Jeremy Bonderman struggled in his return to the Tigers rotation on Monday night, allowing six runs on eight hits in a loss to the White Sox.
He managed only one strikeout while walking three and serving up three home runs. If this outing is any indication, he may need to pitch out of the bullpen for a while before he returns to the rotation full-time.
