Sergio Romo left Friday's game with a mild right knee sprain.
Romo isn't likely to pitch in the Giants' final two contests. He'll finish the year with a 3.97 ERA and 1.21 WHIP over 45 appearances.

Giants activated RHP Sergio Romo from the 15-day disabled list.
Romo has been dealing with a sprained elbow since spring training. He will be looking to build upon his solid numbers from last season when he went 3-1 with five holds, a 0.71 WHIP and 2.12 ERA through 34 innings of relief work.

Sergio Romo (elbow) tossed a simulated game Wednesday.
"I threw off a quality mound for a change," Romo said after the workout in San Francisco. He threw 29 pitches and reported no issues with his elbow. Look for him to be activated this weekend.

Sergio Romo (elbow) tossed his third scoreless inning for Triple-A Fresno on Sunday.
The Giants will have more flexibility to deal a reliever once Romo proves he's healthy. It's possible that he'll be activated this week.

Sergio Romo, on the disabled list with a sprained right elbow, tossed 2 1/3 innings in an extended spring training game Monday.
"The plan was for him to throw 1 1/3, but he'd only thrown 10 pitches, so we let him go another inning," said manager Bruce Bochy. Romo is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment Thursday with either Single-A San Jose or Triple-A Fresno.

Provided he gets through another extended spring training appearance Tuesday, Sergio Romo (elbow) will make a rehab appearance at Class A San Jose.
Romo has been sidelined since spraining his elbow in spring training and projects to rejoin the team later this month.

Sergio Romo pitched in an extended spring training game Wednesday and reported no issues with his sprained right elbow.
"He's had no setbacks and he has felt great," manager Bruce Bochy said. Romo is expected to make one more outing at extended spring training before he heads out on a minor league rehab assignment. He's about two weeks from returning to the Giants.

Giants placed RHP Sergio Romo on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to March 27, with a right elbow sprain.
Romo has started a throwing program, but he will miss at least the first month of the season.

Sergio Romo underwent an MRI on his strained elbow Saturday.
The results revealed a sprained ligament, and Romo won't be allowed to throw for at least another four days. "I didn't think I threw hard enough to have elbow problems," he said.

Mar. 3 - 8:54 pm et
Sergio Romo has a strained elbow and will not throw for at least ten days.
This may explain why Romo was lit up last week in his first outing of the spring. Manager Bruce Bochy said Romo still has enough time to get healthy by Opening Day, but he's now a long shot to open the season in the Giants' bullpen.

Sergio Romo was lit up for six runs -- three earned -- in an inning by the Dodgers on Thursday.
Val Pascucci and Chin-Lung Hu homered off him. Romo's bullpen spot is vulnerable following the additions of Bob Howry and Jeremy Affeldt over the winter. He'll need to be sharp from here on in to guarantee himself a job.

Sergio Romo got five outs to pick up his fourth save of the MPL season on Wednesday.
He's struck out five in 4 2/3 scoreless innings to date. Romo impressed in both of his stints in the Giants' pen this year and should have a leg up for a job entering next spring.

Giants recalled RHP Sergio Romo from Triple-A Fresno.
Romo will join San Francisco's bullpen. He posted a 4.41 ERA and 16/4 K/BB ratio in 16 1/3 innings in his first major league stint earlier this season.

Aug. 6 - 6:17 pm et
The Giants designated Sergio Romo for assignment because he was on revocable waivers, not because they intend to remove him from the 40-man roster, the San Jose Mercury News reports.
That's better. Romo, like many, many players, was placed on trade waivers after the July 31 deadline and had yet to clear. The Giants cannot option him in that case, so they designated him for assignment. They'll still be able to option him once he either clears waivers or is claimed and pulled back. Of course, this all begs the question of why it was so important to drop him from the roster right now when Billy Sadler could have just as easily been called up in a day or two (or never).

Giants designated RHP Sergio Romo for assignment.
The Giants have rushed so many borderline players to the majors that they're likely to have a 40-man roster crunch this winter. Romo will go through waivers now despite posting a decent 4.41 ERA and a fine 16/4 K/BB ratio in 16 1/3 innings during his first taste of the majors. His stuff is weak, but because of his track record, we imagine some team will claim him anyway.

Jun. 24 - 5:00 pm et
Giants purchased the contract of RHP Sergio Romo from Double-A Connecticut.
The Giants' handling of their prospects is just as odd as ever. They never game Romo a midseason promotion before, even while he was typically older than his competition while dominating his circuits, but now they're perfectly willing to move him from Double-A to the majors even though he's never set foot in Triple-A. Romo had a 4.00 ERA in Connecticut's bullpen, but he had bounced back this month after a down May. He had a 30/7 K/BB ratio in 27 innings. His stuff has never matched his results, but he could be a useful middle reliever anyway.

Apr. 24 - 4:25 am et
Sergio Romo struck out two in a perfect inning for Double-A Connecticut on Wednesday and has yet to allow a run in 10 innings.
Double-A hitters haven't had any more luck with Romo than A-ball hitters did. Because of his lack of a quality fastball, it seems to be almost taken for granted that he'll collapse at some point, but he's as good of a minor league reliever as there is out there. He allowed three hits, walked none and struck out 10 this season. Last year, he had a 1.36 ERA and a 106/15 K/BB ratio in 66 1/3 IP in the California League. He is 25 now, so it'd be nice if the Giants stopped moving him at a glacial pace and tried testing him with Triple-A.

Aug. 11 - 2:42 pm et
Low Single-A Augusta's Sergio Romo combined with two relievers on a no-hitter Thursday.
Romo pitched seven hitless innings before David Quinowski and Osiris Matos finished up. Romo, 23, was a 28th-round pick in the 2005 draft. He's 10-2 with a 2.49 ERA, 76 H and 93/19 K/BB in 101 1/3 IP in the South Atlantic League this season, but he's not viewed as one of the Giants' better pitching prospects. Matos probably has the better chance of making it to the majors.
