Feb. 9 - 1:42 am et
Drew Gooden got hot with Erick Dampier out on Monday, coming off the bench for 24 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block and 41 minutes. He made 8-of-14 FGs and 8-of-8 FTs.
It took less than two minutes for the Mavs to sub Gooden for fill-in starter Eduardo Najera, and they never looked back. The main thing to remember in fantasy leagues -- in 12 games without Dampier this year, Gooden has averaged 11.7 points and 10.8 rebounds.

The Mavericks are interested in trading for Kevin Martin or Andre Iguodala, but neither deal is considered likely.
The Kings aren't interested in the Mavericks' paltry offerings, while the 76ers would require that they also take on Samuel Dalembert's oppressive contract. In addition, team owner Mark Cuban recently said, "I don't see any bargains happening out there...I'm not looking for any big deals."

Drew Gooden slid back to a reserve role with Erick Dampier healthy, notching six points and one rebound. He logged just 13 minutes.
As usual, Gooden's value yo-yos depending upon his role. If you can predict Dampier's DNPs, feel free to trot Gooden out there in fantasyland.

Drew Gooden got a full complement of minutes in Sunday's blowout win over the Knicks, filling in for Erick Dampier (knee) to the tune of 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting with 18 rebounds, two blocks, a steal, and an assist.
It's possible that Dampier was simply rested because the Mavs were playing a smaller, more mobile team in the Knicks, a scenario that has played out all year. If you can manage to utilize Gooden in these types of matchups, perhaps you can squeeze value out of him, but Dampier's presence otherwise limits him.

Drew Gooden (sprained finger) returned on Wednesday with eight points and five rebounds in 20 minutes off the bench.
Gooden dislocated his finger last week but it didn't seem to bother him tonight. His fantasy appeal hinges on the presence or absence of Erick Dampier, making him a routine headache.

Mavericks big man Drew Gooden (sprained ring finger) will dress but won't play in Saturday's game vs. the Jazz.
He dislocated the finger in last night's game. We assume he'll be ready to go on Wednesday, though his fantasy value is still limited by the presence of a healthy Erick Dampier.

Drew Gooden came off the bench Friday with the return of Erick Dampier and had 10 points, eight rebounds and a block in 18 minutes.
Gooden took stitches to his chin and suffered a finger injury, but continued to play despite the injuries. He loses a lot of value with Dampier back, but is still worth keeping a close eye on going forward.

Drew Gooden left Friday's game with a chin injury and has gone to the locker room.
Sounds like he's getting stitches, but it also sounds like he'll return. He appeared to suffer a dislocated finger earlier in the game, but was playing through that as well.

Coach Rick Carlisle praised Drew Gooden for his persistence, his effort, and his positive attitude as a reserve for the Mavericks this season.
The most telling story, though, is the numbers he's posted when he's had the opportunity to start. As a reserve Gooden's stats are weak, but when Erick Dampier is out Gooden makes a fantastic spot start.

Drew Gooden filled in for Erick Dampier (knee) at center on Tuesday, notching 10 points, 18 rebounds, two steals, one block and just one turnover in 33 minutes.
That's the good news. The bad news is that he was an uncharacteristic 4-of-16 from the field. Dampier is also day-to-day with the injury, which severely limits Gooden's long-term appeal.

Drew Gooden was quiet in a start for injured Erick Dampier (knee) on Sunday, scoring just six points with seven rebounds, two assists, and a steal in 21 minutes.
Dampier has a fluid buildup in his knee, and his availability for the upcoming week is in question. Given Dampier's age and size, any trouble with his knee sounds like it could keep him out a bit, so Gooden could get some good run this week.

Drew Gooden scored 10 points on 5-of-10 shooting with eight rebounds, a steal, and a block in 24 minutes against the Rockets on Thursday.
Smaller, faster teams like the Rockets are going to pose problems for starter Erick Dampier, and those are the games owners should be targeting when using Gooden.

Dec. 27 - 11:25 pm et
Drew Gooden (back spasms) returned to action Sunday and scored 19 points on a perfect 8-of-8 shooting to go with 10 rebounds and a block in 27 minutes of run on Sunday.
Gooden may have gotten some extra run after Erick Dampier (10 points, nine rebounds, 20 minutes) played 35 minutes in his absence Saturday. Gooden played a bit over his head tonight, although owners needing help down low shouldn't be afraid to play the matchups with him.

Mavericks big man Drew Gooden didn't score or grab any rebounds in seven minutes off the bench on Monday.
Gooden's playing time has bottomed-out recently, as he's averaging under 12 minutes in the past three games. When Kris Humphries (four points, five rebounds) outproduces Gooden, as he did tonight, it's probably time to cut bait.

Dec. 6 - 12:23 am et
Drew Gooden played just 15 minutes off the Mavericks bench on Saturday, managing five points and three blocks in a loss to the Hawks.
Gooden also racked up four fouls, which was likely a factor in his low playing time. His value has clearly taken a hit with Erick Dampier (zero points, 12 rebounds, four blocks) in the starting lineup, but he's worth stashing away.

Drew Gooden moved back to the Mavericks bench on Monday, responding with 15 points, 10 rebounds, one steal, two blocks and zero turnovers on 29 minutes.
Gooden looks ready to produce as long as he gets the minutes, so keep a close eye on his playing time now that Erick Dampier is back in the starting lineup. He has a few things working in his favor, including Dampier's age and Gooden's own ability to play PF or C.

Drew Gooden got into early foul trouble against Shaq and the Cavaliers on Saturday, managing just six points, six rebounds and two steals in 23 minutes.
Gooden turned the ball over three times, shot 1-of-4 from the field, and didn't have any assists or blocks. He's been playing well lately and we're not concerned about one bad matchup vs. Shaq, but games like this highlight the Mavs' need for Erick Dampier (who is due back any day).

Nov. 27 - 11:29 pm et
Drew Gooden had four points, seven boards and zero blocks in Friday's win over the Pacers.
Erick Dampier is due back next week, but Gooden has been playing much better than this on most nights. Keep playing him if you own him, but watch to see what happens when Dampier returns.

Drew Gooden had 10 points, five rebounds and four blocks in Wednesday's win over the Rockets.
He's blocked 11 shots over his last four games and has posted double figures in both scoring and rebounding in five of his last six. Continue to play him as long as he's starting for the injured Erick Dampier.
