Mavericks
Nov. 21 - 1:06 am et
Drew Gooden couldn't shoot it on Friday (4-of-16) but finished with nine points and a season-high 16 rebounds as the Mavericks pulled off a comeback win over the Kings.
Gooden would have posted his fourth double-double with one more point, and starter Erick Dampier is not due back from an illness until late next week at the earliest. And even then, he might have lost his job to Gooden.

Nov. 19 - 3:25 am et
Drew Gooden is taking advantage of the absence of Erick Dampier, who has an undisclosed medical condition (we're guessing 'heart'), and had 17 points, 11 boards and three blocks on 8-of-13 shooting in Wednesday's OT win over the Spurs.
Gooden has been very hot lately and should probably be scooped up in most leagues. He has three straight double-doubles and four blocks in his last three games, and while he'll take a hit when Dampier returns, he is now performing at the level we expected him to coming into the season.

Nov. 16 - 11:15 pm et
Starting for ailing center Erick Dampier on Monday, Mavericks big man Drew Gooden posted 22 points (9-of-13 FGs, 4-of-5 FTs) and 12 rebounds in an overtime victory.
Gooden had been averaging 5.7 points in 19 minutes per game, so we're not going overboard, but he is certainly worth owning if he can earn a consistent 30 minutes per game. He's worth hanging onto, just in case he overtakes Dampier at some point.

Drew Gooden got a surprise start for Erick Dampier (undisclosed illness) on Sunday, and double-doubled with 11 points, 11 rebounds, an assist, and a block.
It's unclear how much time Dampier will be out for, but owners in a pinch may be able to squeeze some juice out of the lemon that is Drew Gooden.

Drew Gooden (ribs) returned to action on Tuesday, coming off the Mavs bench for eight points and three rebounds in 17 minutes.
Gooden will fill in at power forward and center, but his value is muted as long as the Mavs' starting frontcourt is healthy.

Nov. 10 - 5:06 pm et
Drew Gooden's nagging rib injury has healed and he appears ready to play in Tuesday's game against the Rockets.
Coach Rick Carlisle called him a game-time decision for Tuesday, but Gooden practiced fully Monday so we expect him to go. If Gooden plays, look for him to cut into Erick Dampier's minutes.

Drew Gooden (ribs) and Quinton Ross (back) missed Wednesday's game against the Hornets.
The Mavs were hoping that one of them would be able to go, but both remain day-to-day.

Drew Gooden and Quinton Ross traveled with the team to New Orleans for Wednesday's game against the Hornets, and the Mavs are hoping at least one of them can play.
Consider both Gooden and Ross game-time decisions for Wednesday; stay tuned for updates.

A Mavericks team source says that it was not Drew Gooden who uttered a homophobic slur at Clipper fans on Saturday.
Instead, it may have been someone Gooden was walking with. There's a decent chance he'll address the issue before Tuesday's game, which he remains doubtful for with a rib injury.

Drew Gooden allegedly yelled a homophobic slur at a pair of Clippers fans during the Mavericks away game on Saturday.
Mark Cuban has already entered the fray, emailing the subject of Gooden's abuse and saying that the team would deal with the situation internally.

Drew Gooden is not expected to play on Tuesday due his lingering rib injury.
Erick Dampier has been surprisingly effective thus far and is worth a shot in fantasy if you are in need of a center.

Mavericks forward Drew Gooden (strained ribs) will be re-examined on Monday.
"We don’t think it’s serious," said coach Rick Carlisle. "It’s better than it was yesterday." If Gooden misses any more games, expect Dallas to give more minutes than usual to veteran center Erick Dampier.

Drew Gooden strained a muscle near his right rib cage and expects to have an MRI when the Mavericks return to Dallas on Sunday.
Gooden said he is questionable for Saturday's game vs. the Clippers, but we see no reason a veteran player would rush back -- especially before getting the MRI he said he needs. Bench him (or cut him), if you haven't already.

Oct. 31 - 3:49 am et
Drew Gooden missed all four of his shots to finish with just two points and two rebounds in just 12 minutes of Friday's win over the Lakers.
We really believed he was going to play the majority of minutes at center this season, but that's not been the case thus far. If you own him, hit the wire and find a more productive player. But if Dirk Nowitzki ever goes down with an injury, Gooden should be picked up immmediately.

Drew Gooden played just 15 minutes off the Mavericks' bench in Tuesday's opening loss to the Wizards, finishing with two points, four rebounds, two steals and two blocks on 1-of-6 shooting.
Erick Dampier got extended run against Brendan Haywood, but we're still thinking Gooden will get more run in the near future. No reason to hang onto Gooden if there are options on your waiver wire, but we think he'll be better than this down the line.

Oct. 24 - 1:06 am et
Drew Gooden started at center Friday and had 12 points, 10 boards and a block.
Erick Dampier was out for personal reasons, allowing Gooden to get some extra burn. Gooden is not going to be great fantasy center, but if you're going to draft one from Dallas, make sure it's him and not Dampier.

Drew Gooden continues to post solid numbers in the Mavericks rotation, scoring 16 points in Dallas' win over the Pistons Thursday night.
Gooden was able to compliment an inside scoring game with a decent mid range jumper. It will be interesting to see what his numbers look like once the regular season starts, but he's shaping up to be a decent late round pick.

He has played well in the preseason and remains an interesting value pick in the later rounds of fantasy drafts.

Oct. 5 - 11:42 pm et
Drew Gooden had 18 points, six rebounds, and one block in 23 minutes for the Mavericks on Monday.
Gooden came off the bench but played far more than starting center Erick Dampier (two points, five rebounds in 14 minutes). Because of injuries, the Mavs started both Matt Carroll and Quinton Ross.

Mavs GM Donnie Nelson says that Drew Gooden and Erick Dampier will split time at center this season.
It's looking like Gooden will be playing a lot of center when the Mavericks go small and he qualifies as a fantasy sleeper. If Gooden does see quality minutes at center, Dampier's already miniscule value will take another hit.
