Browns released WR David Patten.
No surprise here. The veteran receiver couldn't beat out Mike Furrey for the final spot. At 35, Patten's career could be in trouble.

David Patten returned to practice this week after missing the first three preseason games with an undisclosed injury.
It's too little too late for Patten. Braylon Edwards, Josh Cribbs, Brian Robiskie, and Mohamed Massaquoi have spots sewn up while Mike Furrey has moved into the slot. Expect Patten to be released on Saturday.

 David Patten-WR- BrownsAug. 18 - 3:07 pm et
David Patten has missed several consecutive practices at Browns camp with an undisclosed injury.
Patten has fallen well down the depth chart, while Mike Furrey has moved into the Browns' top three receivers. Cleveland never intended to keep both veterans. Patten, 35, appears very likely to be released before September.

Browns signed WR David Patten, formerly of the Saints.
Patten, 34, is coming off an injury plagued season. He played in only five games and caught 11 passes after hauling in 54 the previous year. The Browns probably aren't committing much money to Patten and need insurance for Donte' Stallworth, but can't be expecting much production. He's a significantly poorer bet than he was in the Superdome under Sean Payton.

Browns GM George Kokonis revealed at the Owners' Meetings Monday that the team plans to sign free agent receiver David Patten.
Patten, who is turning 35 this offseason, received no interest elsewhere after the Saints cut him early in February. "It's another veteran leader, experienced," Kokinis said. "We had David in before the (Donte') Stallworth incident occurred, so that signing wasn't really triggered by that."

Saints released WR David Patten.
When Patten, 34, struggled with injuries last season, Lance Moore stepped in as a far superior No. 2 receiver. Robert Meachem is ready to take over the No. 3 role, and the Saints remain high on last year's seventh-rounder Adrian Arrington. The team saved $2.25 million by cutting Patten. The veteran may catch on elsewhere as a fourth or fifth receiver, but his days as a fantasy factor are likely over.

According to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Saints WR David Patten, G Jamar Nesbit, DL Brian Young, and LB Mark Simoneau are candidates for release or restructure.
Patten was left without an offensive role after Lance Moore emerged as a far superior option as No. 2 receiver. Young and Simoneau are aging reserves whose seasons ended early due to injury.

 David Patten-WR- BrownsDec. 21 - 11:49 am et
Saints declared WR David Patten, third QB Joey Harrington, CB Michael Lehan, LB Tearrius George, OG Jamar Nesbit, DT Kendrick Clancy, OT Jermon Bushrod, and DE Rob Ninkovich inactive for Week 16.
Patten is under contract through next season, but the Saints may not bring him back. He doesn't have a role on game days any longer. The Saints will use Hollis Thomas at nose tackle because Clancy is too banged up to play.

Saints declared WR David Patten, RB Deuce McAllister, QB Joey Harrington, LT Jammal Brown, S Terrence Holt, DE Josh Savage, DE Rob Ninkovich, and LB Tearrius George inactive for Thursday night's game against Chicago.
New Orleans has activated three tailbacks; Reggie Bush, Pierre Thomas, and Mike Bell. It will be stunning if Bell gets the football in a non-blowout. Thomas is slated for most early-down work, and is expected to start, with Bush returning punts and being used extensively in the passing game.

 David Patten-WR- BrownsOct. 19 - 12:02 pm et
Saints declared WR David Patten, CB Aaron Glenn, DT Antwan Lake, WR Courtney Roby, OT Jermon Bushrod, QB Joey Harrington, DL Sedrick Ellis, and WR Terrance Copper inactive for Week 7.
Patten wasn't on the injury report and apparently has been scratched healthy in favor of Robert Meachem and Devery Henderson. Brian Young starts for Ellis.
 David Patten-WR- BrownsOct. 15 - 3:45 pm et
David Patten (groin) has resumed practicing without limitations and is no longer on the Saints' Week 7 injury report.
Patten's injury may have cost him his third receiver position, as with Marques Colston due back Patten would be behind both Lance Moore and Devery Henderson. It's also possible that Patten is behind Robert Meachem.

David Patten (groin, doubtful) was unable to practice Friday.
He didn't practice at all this week and will likely be inactive Sunday.

 David Patten-WR- BrownsOct. 9 - 3:16 pm et
David Patten (groin) was held out of Saints practice Thursday.
Patten has likely fallen to a fourth receiver at best, behind Marques Colston, Lance Moore, and Devery Henderson, and seems unlikely to play Sunday. He should've been dropped off 10-team league rosters a week back.

 David Patten-WR- BrownsOct. 2 - 3:14 pm et
David Patten (groin) has been ruled out for Monday Night Football.
Patten has likely lost his starting job to Lance Moore permanently. Look for Robert Meachem to be New Orleans' third receiver vs. Minnesota with Moore and Devery Henderson starting. Patten can be dropped in all leagues.

David Patten (groin) missed Saints practice on Wednesday.
Patten was active for New Orleans' win last Sunday, but caught one pass early before calling it a game. Week 4 hero Lance Moore would be a more advised fantasy play if Patten can't face the Vikings on Monday Night Football.

 David Patten-WR- BrownsSep. 28 - 5:13 pm et
David Patten caught only one pass for 21 yards in the Saints' Week 4 win.
Patten played behind Lance Moore and was "limited" due to a groin injury. Moore may have passed Patten on the depth chart with his two-TD day.
 David Patten-WR- BrownsSep. 28 - 12:09 pm et
David Patten is active Sunday against the 49ers.
He's a risky option after having been extremely limited in practice all week, but this slows down the Lance Moore hype train considerably. Robert Meachem may only be a fourth receiver Sunday. The Saints inactives are WR Marques Colston, CB Randall Gay, RB Aaron Stecker, DB Aaron Glenn, FB Mike Karney, T Jermon Bushrod, TE Jeremy Shockey, and DE Josh Savage.
 David Patten-WR- BrownsSep. 26 - 3:30 pm et
David Patten (groin) returned to a limited practice Friday and will be a game-time decision Sunday against San Francisco.
If we had to guess, we'd say Patten will play little if at all. The Saints have so many injuries that Patten could be on the 45-man active list and still not play. The prospect of that happening makes him hands-off in fantasy.

 David Patten-WR- BrownsSep. 25 - 3:11 pm et
David Patten (groin) missed his second straight day of Saints practice Thursday.
Don't anticipate Patten facing the 49ers barring a near-miraculous recovery on Friday. He could be listed as doubtful on the final injury report.

David Patten (groin) missed Saints practice on Wednesday.
Patten will likely need to practice in some way later this week to be active Sunday vs. San Francisco. It's uncertain who would start in his place, but it'd be either Robert Meachem or Lance Moore opposite Devery Henderson.
