Beat writer Pete Dougherty suggests that the Packers could bring back impending free agent RT Mark Tauscher as a backup.
Tauscher really stabilized the Packers' line in 2009 after joining the starting lineup in October. He's 32 and had two major knee surgeries, but he still could be the Packers' best option at right tackle. The Packers would be well served to sign him to a short-term deal while continuing to develop T.J. Lang and Breno Giacomini.

Aaron Rodgers is pulling for the Packers to re-sign impending free agent RT Mark Tauscher.
"Without a doubt," Rodgers said. "He was a big part of our success." Signed off the street in-season, Tauscher entered the lineup in October. He wound up starting the last eight regular season games, and Green Bay won seven of them. The 32-year-old appears to have something left in the tank.

After giving up 37 sacks in the first eight games of the season, the Packers have allowed just 14 in the final eight games.
A lot of credit goes to RT Mark Tauscher, who joined the team in late October to replace the struggling trio of Allen Barbre, Breno Giacomini and T.J. Lang. Just as importantly, Aaron Rodgers took to his coaching and film study, learning to get rid of the ball more quickly.

Packers RT Mark Tauscher has been diagnosed with a knee sprain.
He'll probably miss a couple of weeks, which will vault oft-overpowered Allen Barbre back into the lineup. The Packers host the Cowboys in Week 10.

Packers RT Mark Tauscher doesn't think the knee injury he sustained in Week 9 is serious.
Tauscher left the game in the third quarter and did not return, but he doesn't think he tore any ligaments. Tauscher was playing for the first time since blowing out his knee in October of last season.

Mark Tauscher exited Sunday's game in the third quarter with a knee injury.
Tauscher was rolled up on and re-injured his surgically repaired left knee. Tauscher had already been rotating in and out of the game, so now Allen Barbre will play full time.

Mark Tauscher took the majority of first-team reps at right tackle during Packers practice Wednesday.
Coach Mike McCarthy said he hasn't decided yet, but it looks like Tauscher is set to take over for Allen Barbre. With Chad Clifton back on the left side, the Packers' offensive line is rapidly improving. Barbre is an excellent run blocker, but has struggled to protect Aaron Rodgers. Upgrade the quarterback with this new-look line.

Packers OT Mark Tauscher (knee) has been medically cleared and could make his debut this week.
The Packers signed Tauscher on Oct. 12 but he has been inactive for the last two games. He could take Breno Giacomini's spot on the active roster this week and give Aaron Rodgers' protection a boost.

Packers OT Mark Tauscher (knee) will not be ready to play Sunday.
With Chad Clifton's status in doubt again, the Packers almost are back where they started on the offensive line. It's a good thing they're playing the Browns this week.

Packers re-signed OT Mark Tauscher.
This should help shore up a struggling offensive line. Tauscher had offseason ACL surgery, but obviously checked out physically. He's an upgrade over undersized and oft-overpowered Allen Barbre at right tackle. If the Packers can get LT Chad Clifton (ankle) healthy, they are on their way to keeping Aaron Rodgers upright. Rodgers has been sacked 20 times in four games.

The Packers brought back free agent OT Mark Tauscher for a workout on Tuesday.
The fallout from Jared Allen's torturing of Daryn Colledge? The Packers hope Chad Clifton (ankle) is healthy enough to start after this week's bye, but Allen Barbre has also struggled at right tackle. Tauscher will likely be re-signed if he checks out physically after offseason ACL surgery.

Chiefs worked out free agent OT Mark Tauscher on Tuesday.
Tauscher had been recovering from offseason ACL surgery. The Packers have been keeping tabs on his progress, but it's telling that they haven't moved on him despite their own obvious woes at right tackle.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy disclosed that free agent Mark Tauscher (ACL surgery) remains an option to be signed this summer.
The Packers have kept him in mind all offseason. Tausher's rehab is reportedly ahead of schedule, and he believes he can be ready for game action by September. Allen Barbre is currently running as the starting right tackle.

Green Bay has no intention of signing injured free agent T Mark Tauscher.
The long-time Packers stalwart may not be recovered from ACL surgery until October, and wasn't the same last year. Green Bay seems likely to fill their tackle need in the draft.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy says he's been in regular contact with free agent OT Mark Tauscher (ACL surgery) and doesn't believe he'll be ready to play before October 1.
"It's a late injury," McCarthy said. "You do the math." Tauscher, injured on December 7, faces 8-10 months of recovery. He may not find a suitor soon.

The Vikings reportedly have interest in free agent RT Mark Tauscher.
The Vikes have identified right tackle as their biggest need after getting Sage Rosenfels and courting T.J. Houshmandzadeh. Tauscher is coming off late-season ACL surgery, but he's expected to be ready by training camp.

Packers GM Ted Thompson doesn't plan on trying to re-sign RT Mark Tauscher (ACL surgery) before the start of free agency.
Tauscher's agent is trying to drive up interest in his client, but he isn't likely to be handed a starting job and big bucks coming off late-season surgery. The Packers may re-sign him later in the offseason.

The Packers are expected to re-sign impending free agent RT Mark Tauscher (ACL surgery).
Beat writer Pete Dougherty believes Tauscher's odds of returning actually went up after his ACL surgery because the injury will drive his price down on the open market. Tauscher said he's on pace to return to football by the start of training camp.

The Packers revealed that RT Mark Tauscher's knee injury is a torn ACL. He will be placed on injured reserve, ending his season. The surgery is scheduled for January 15.
It will require reconstructive surgery and is Tauscher's second ACL tear since 2002. He will turn 32 next season and may have to take a deal for little more than the minimum. Some teams could view the 6'3/315-pounder as a guard.

Packers RT Mark Tauscher is not expected to play again this season after suffering a "significant" knee injury in Week 14.
His backup is Tony Moll, who has starting experience but mostly at guard and isn't the run blocker Tauscher is. This threatens to be a big downgrade for Ryan Grant on strong-side runs. Tauscher is in a contract season and a torn knee ligament this late in the year could crush his 2009 market value.
