Redskins signed OT Levi Jones, formerly of the Bengals.
Once a Pro Bowl-caliber left tackle, Jones' career has stalled due to nagging knee injuries. After working him out earlier this season, the Lions and Packers both passed, which doesn't say much about his current talent level. The Redskins are desperate for a tackle, however, so Jones could move into the lineup quickly.

The Lions worked out free agent OT Levi Jones on Tuesday.
Jones, 30, has drawn interest from several teams since the offseason, but may not be passing physicals. He has a long history of leg injuries.

Free agent LT Levi Jones worked out for the Packers on Monday.
The Packers are more desperate for help at the right tackle spot where Allen Barbre is getting dominated. This is probably just precautionary in case LT Chad Clifton's ankle injury keeps him out longer than expected.

NFL.com's Jason La Canfora reports that free agent OT Levi Jones is drawing interest from "several teams."
La Canfora isn't specific about these teams, so we're assuming the report was driven by Jones' agent. Jones wants a surefire starting job, but probably won't get one. He's only been linked to the Cardinals since Cincy cut him.

Cardinals GM Rod Graves downplayed the club's reported interest in free agent OT Levi Jones.
The sides haven't even spoken since May. "We haven't necessarily killed the idea but we haven't talked to them lately," said Graves. Jones, who turns 30 in August and has a history of leg woes, way overestimated his market value.

Free agent OT Levi Jones is waiting to find a team that will give him a starting job and pay him accordingly, his player rep says.
Arizona has been Jones' most ardent suitor, but agent Ken Zuckerman says signing with the Cardinals is "not in his best interest" unless they up their offer. The Cards probably won't go over $1 million on a one-year proposal.

The Cardinals have already spoken to free agent OT Levi Jones about his possible interest in the team.
Incumbent Mike Gandy is a replacement-level left tackle and could use some competition. Another option is moving RT Levi Brown to the left side to protect Kurt Warner's blind side. Either way, Jones would almost certainly be a backup if he landed in Arizona. He shouldn't cost more than the minimum.

The player rep for free agent OT Levi Jones admitted Monday that his client may have to wait for the summer to sign with a team.
Jones is recovering from extensive leg surgery and probably couldn't pass physicals. The Cardinals and Redskins have already denied any interest.

The Redskins reportedly have no interest in free agent OT Levi Jones.
With Jon Jansen, Stephon Heyer, and Mike Williams on the depth chart at right tackle, it's a position of need for the Redskins. They obviously prefer the recently signed Jeremy Bridges to Jones and will likely give him a chance to win the job.

The Tacoma News Tribune disputes a report that free agent OT Levi Jones will meet the Seahawks next week.
The original report came from FOXSports' Alex Marvez, who now says Jones will "pursue feelers he has received from other teams first." Seattle has some room under the cap and needs insurance behind LT Walter Jones (knee), so the marriage made sense.

The Cincinnati Enquirer calls free agent OT Levi Jones "doubtful" to land with the Bills.
Buffalo is surprisingly satisfied with mobility-challenged Langston Walker on Trent Edwards' blind side. Jones is meeting with the Seahawks next week.

Free agent OL Levi Jones will visit the Seahawks next week, according to FOXSports' Alex Marvez.
Seattle never did draft insurance for LT Walter Jones (microfracture surgery). Jones has the athleticism OC Greg Knapp looks for in an offfensive tackle.

The Broncos are reportedly showing interest in free agent OT Levi Jones.
Jones might have a hard time passing a physical coming off extensive leg surgery, but a team will pass him if they want him bad enough. There are already a "handful" of clubs discussing signing the former Pro Bowl alternate.

Bengals released LT Levi Jones.
Jones is only 29, but probably has the body of a guy in his mid-30s. Back, hamstring, and knee issues cost him 17 of the Bengals' last 48 games. His latest injury is to his leg, where heavy scar tissue buildup caused the appendage to go numb. Jones had surgery this winter and is out until June. He's mentioned Arizona as a possible fit, but needs to get healthy first.

Bengals LT Levi Jones says he'd "definitely" like to play for the Cardinals once Cincinnati releases him.
Jones went to Arizona State and figures to come cheap. "I'd love to come home," he said. Jones added that his "health is good" and said he didn't have knee trouble last year. "I had a lot of scar tissue up and down my right leg that caused it go numb," he said. Jones had leg surgery over the winter.

The agent for LT Levi Jones says the Bengals have informed him his client will be released or traded shortly.
This likely indicates that No. 6 pick Andre Smith will play tackle, not guard, although it remains to be seen which side. Anthony Collins and Andrew Whitworth both have experience on the blind side. The Bengals won't get anything for Jones because of his chronic back injury and pricey contract.

Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said Thursday that Levi Jones remains his starting left tackle.
Lewis said Jones is healthy and ready to play, but the coach wouldn't comment on the report that the Bengals are "actively" trying to trade him. Pencil him into the starting lineup for now, but keep the eraser handy.

Levi Jones' future in Cincinnati is dependent on the Bengals' early-round draft picks.
If the Bengals land a top tackle, Jones is expected to be traded or even released. Jason Smith and Eugene Monroe will likely be off the board by No. 6 overall, which would leave the Bengals with a decision on whether Michael Oher or Andre Smith is worth the pick.

The Bengals are "actively" working to trade LT Levi Jones, according to the Chicago Sun Times.
Jones has knee and back problems, a pricey contract, and turns 30 in 2009. The Bengals also lack a natural left tackle behind him, which will cost them leverage. Former guard Andrew Whitworth would probably start on Carson Palmer's blind side if the season began today.

The Bengals would not take a sizable cap hit to release LT Levi Jones.
It's probably time for Cincinnati to admit this mistake, especially with four possible long-term left tackles available at the No. 6 overall pick. The Bengals are set at right tackle with Anthony Collins if Stacy Andrews (ACL, MCL surgery) isn't ready by Week 1, but need an upgrade on the blind side.
