Free agent OLB/DE Travis LaBoy is scheduled to undergo season-threatening ankle surgery later this month.
According to Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic, "the ankle injury appears to be the major reason the Cardinals released LaBoy two weeks ago." He's not likely to sign on with a new team until he's almost finished rehabbing.

The Packers have expressed "preliminary" interest in free agent OLB/DE Travis LaBoy.
LaBoy would provide better competition for rookie Clay Matthews than Brady Poppinga at weak outside 'backer, but is coming off biceps surgery. GM Ted Thompson doesn't usually offer "risk" players more than the minimum.

Cardinals released OLB Travis LaBoy.
The Cards guaranteed LaBoy $7.5M on a five-year contract last offseason, so they're taking a salary cap hit. They do have room to work with and needed the cash for Adrian Wilson, Karlos Dansby, and possibly Anquan Boldin's extensions. LaBoy, 28, got off to a hot start with four sacks in the first four games last year, but ran into the same injury woes that dogged him as a Titan. He's a very skilled pass rusher, but can't stay off the shelf.

Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt confirmed Tuesday that OLB/DE Travis LaBoy will need surgery to repair his torn biceps.
LaBoy will likely miss all pre-training camp workouts. The 2008 signee has a clear path to start next season with Bert Berry headed for free agency, but LaBoy's frequent injury woes make DE/OLB depth a definite need for Arizona.

NBC's Al Michaels revealed on Sunday's Super Bowl broadcast that Cardinals OLB Travis LaBoy will need surgery on his biceps after the season.
The team only said LaBoy's biceps was strained, but Michaels mentioned that it's torn. LaBoy did not leave his injury woes behind him in Tennessee. He'd be a legitimate Pro Bowler if he could stay out of the training room.

Cardinals OLB/DE Travis LaBoy (biceps) vows to play in Super Bowl XLIII.
"There's no way I'm missing this next game," he said. LaBoy only played a few snaps in the NFC Championship game. He will likely be used off the bench behind Bertrand Berry again if he's available against Pittsburgh.

An MRI revealed that Cardinals OLB/DE Travis LaBoy's biceps muscle is strained, not torn.
Coach Ken Whisenhunt said LaBoy will try to play in the Super Bowl with a brace on his elbow. He had four sacks and 31 tackles in the regular season.

Cardinals OLB/DE Travis LaBoy will undergo an MRI Monday to determine the extent of a biceps injury he suffered in the NFC title game.
A muscle tear would likely knock LaBoy out for the Super Bowl. Usual backup Bert Berry has been plenty productive rushing off the edge in LaBoy's place.

The East Valley Tribune expects him to split time with Bertrand Berry if he can play, but it may be tough to sit Berry coming off an impressive performance against the Falcons.

Cardinals declared LB Travis LaBoy, QB Brian St. Pierre, DB Matt Ware, T Elliot Vallejo, T Brandon Keith, DE Kenny Iwebema, and NT Gabe Watson inactive for Week 17.
LaBoy has been a strong pass rusher at times this season, so the Cardinals will need him to get healthy for the playoffs.

Updating a previous item, Cardinals OLB Travis LaBoy (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 16.
Arizona has a more than respectable backup for LaBoy in Bertrand Berry. LaBoy has been banged up all year and doesn't have a sack since Week 5.

Cardinals OLB Travis LaBoy (groin, questionable) returned to a limited practice on Friday.
It appears LaBoy will be active in the game, but he isn't an IDP to rely on. LaBoy is injury prone and also prone to aggravations. He won't be at 100%.

Cardinals OLB Travis LaBoy (groin strain) has missed both Wednesday and Thursday's practices.
LaBoy was expected to be healthy after the bye week, but he'll have to practice Friday to have a chance to play in Week 8. He's been a strong pass rusher this season, so his absence would make Jake Delhomme's life easier.

Cardinals OLB Travis LaBoy (groin) went through a light workout on the sidelines at Wednesday's team practice.
LaBoy expects to be good to go when the team returns from its Week 7 bye. He has 20 tackles and four sacks this season.

Cardinals OLB Travis LaBoy suffered a groin injury on the last drive of regulation in Sunday's game against Dallas.
LaBoy appeared to be "hurting badly" and will undergo an MRI on Monday. He had countless QB pressures Sunday, but only three tackles and no sacks. The Cards are on a bye this week, so he'll have time to recuperate.

Cardinals OLB Travis LaBoy had six tackles -- all solo -- and two sacks in the team's Week 5 win.
Bills left tackle Jason Peters isn't playing very well these days. LaBoy is healthy again and playing full time at weak outside linebacker with Bert Berry still sidelined. LaBoy now has four sacks on the season.

The Arizona Republic guesses that Cardinals ROLB Travis LaBoy (ankle) will play Sunday against the Redskins.
However, LaBoy may not be 100% and could wind up rotating with Bert Berry, who's been just as effective blitzing off the edge. The weak-side rushers also have a less than ideal matchup against Pro Bowl LT Chris Samuels.

Cardinals OLB Travis LaBoy (ankle) is listed as questionable for Week 3.
LaBoy has a long injury history and is not typically a fast healer. His status for Sunday's tilt with Washington is in doubt. LaBoy's backup is Bert Berry.
