Nov. 18 - 8:33 am et
Isaac Bruce is expected to be active in Week 11, but it's unclear if he'll get any snaps.
Josh Morgan will make his 10th start of 2009, but the 49ers won't say who will be the No. 3 receiver. It will likely be Jason Hill, who has operated out of the slot for two straight games. Bruce may also play behind Brandon Jones and Arnaz Battle and is almost certainly in his last season with the Niners.

Coach Mike Singletary confirmed that Isaac Bruce has a diminishing role in the 49ers offense and won't start the rest of the season.
Michael Crabtree and Josh Morgan are the starters, and Jason Hill will likely continue to hold down No. 3 receiver duties. If you haven't already, it's time to drop the 37-year-old Bruce in all leagues.

Isaac Bruce (ankle) is inactive for Thursday night's game against the Bears.
Bruce is no longer in the 49ers' pass-first game plan, so it's not a big loss. Jason Hill will operate as the No. 3 receiver for a second straight game. Other 49ers inactives: RB Glen Coffee, CB Nate Clements, OT Joe Staley, DE Demetric Evans, CB Keith Smith, C Cody Wallace, and QB Nate Davis.

49ers coach Mike Singletary confirmed that Isaac Bruce (ankle) is not expected to play on Thursday night.
Bruce wouldn't have made a difference on the field anyhow after falling down the depth chart. Jason Hill and Arnaz Battle will see more snaps vs. Chicago.

Isaac Bruce was not listed on the 49ers injury report Tuesday after complaining of knee and ankle soreness earlier in the week.
Bruce has been moved down to No. 4 on the depth chart, with Josh Morgan starting and Jason Hill taking over slot duties. If you haven't dropped him by now, feel free to part ways with the veteran.

Isaac Bruce said he's dealing with a sore knee and ankle.
Bruce is also dealing with a demotion. He was removed from the starting lineup Sunday in favor of Josh Morgan and then was replaced by Jason Hill as the No. 3/slot receiver. We're expecting Bruce to remain an outsider even when he gets healthy.

Isaac Bruce was replaced by Josh Morgan in the starting lineup Sunday.
Bruce also slipped on a second-quarter route, was replaced by Jason Hill and never went back in. The veteran was not on the postgame injury report, so he was benched. This is likely a permanent move, as Michael Crabtree and Josh Morgan offer more explosiveness outside, and Hill is efficient in the slot. Bruce hasn't been roster worthy in 12-team leagues for several weeks.

Isaac Bruce caught four passes for 51 yards in Week 8 against the Colts.
Bruce had just seven catches in the previous four games, but for one afternoon at least Michael Crabtree's presence hurt Josh Morgan far more than Bruce.

Isaac Bruce caught just two passes for 23 yards in Week 7.
Bruce has six catches in his last four games and was hurt by Michael Crabtree's debut more than Josh Morgan. While the offense will be more explosive with Alex Smith (presumably) taking over at QB, Bruce isn't a fantasy option.

Isaac Bruce was held without a catch against the Falcons in Week 5.
The veteran was targeted just four times compared to nine for Josh Morgan and 12 for Vernon Davis. He hasn't been over 40 yards since Week 1 and is no longer worthy of a roster spot in fantasy leagues.

Oct. 4 - 7:36 pm et
Isaac Bruce caught just two passes for 30 yards in the 49ers' Week 4 win.
Bruce is averaging just three catches per game so far this season with no touchdown scores. He is on pace to finish the season with 48 catches and 708 receiving yards. Bruce doesn't get much after the catch, but he has never been the type to fight for the extra yards. He still doesn't have much upside in the San Fran offense.

Isaac Bruce caught two passes for 38 yards in Week 3 against the Vikings.
Both of Bruce's grabs came in the second half. He has 10 catches through three games, but doesn't have much upside.

Isaac Bruce caught four balls for 35 yards in Week 2.
Sadly, the 36-year-old is leading all 49ers pass catchers in receiving through two weeks. Still, Bruce has very little upside in this offense.

Isaac Bruce led the 49ers with 74 yards on four catches against the Cardinals in Week 1.
He also lost eight yards on an end-around that could have been timed with a sundial. The 16-year vet no longer has the burners, but he did get past Bryant McFadden for a 50-yard catch. Bruce was targeted seven times.

Sep. 4 - 5:29 pm et
According to beat writer Matt Maiocco, Isaac Bruce was the only 49ers WR who looked better than expected throughout training camp.
Bruce was kicked to the curb in many fantasy leagues after the Niners drafted Michael Crabtree and signed Brandon Jones, but he's hard to kill. The 16-year vet is an unexciting draft pick, sure, but he's worth consideration as a late-round flier.

Aug. 11 - 12:30 pm et
Prior to Monday when he got poked in the eye, Isaac Bruce hadn't missed a practice all summer.
Bruce says he's having the best camp of his 16-year career. Heck, he's even participating in tackling drills. With the Michael Crabtree situation and Brandon Jones going down, Bruce is needed by the Niners. His starting job appears safe even though his upside from a fantasy perspective is limited.

Jul. 26 - 12:26 pm et
Josh Morgan and Isaac Bruce are expected to open training camp as the 49ers' starting wide receivers.
Michael Crabtree should be in the mix to start the season opener, but a holdout coming on the heels of a lost offseason will hurt his chances. Even if the aging Bruce starts in Week 1, he'll be a poor fantasy choice with Crabtree on his heels.

Beat writer Matt Maiocco expects Isaac Bruce to make the 49ers' roster, but indicates that Bruce is unlikely to start.
The SF Chronicle predicted in early May that Bruce would keep his job, but Josh Morgan is probably moving to flanker to start opposite Michael Crabtree. Bruce only costs $1.48M and provides strong depth. Jason Hill will also make the team. The 49ers' signing of Brandon Jones looks very suspect now.

Jun. 1 - 1:39 pm et
Isaac Bruce has reported for 49ers voluntary Organized Team Activities after training on his own to this point.
It's unclear whether he'll resume running with the first-team offense. Bruce is believed to be competing with Brandon Jones for one starting job while Josh Morgan and first-round pick Michael Crabtree battle on the other side.

The San Francisco Chronicle believes Isaac Bruce is the team's likely Week 1 starting flanker.
We're not so sure. They think Brandon Jones is the underdog, while Michael Crabtree and Josh Morgan battle it out at split end. Bruce's production last season is in his favor, but Jones' contract is not. We suspect the two may share the role, canceling each other out for fantasy purposes.
