Seeing two targets against Green Bay, Martellus Bennett caught just one ball for six yards in Week 10.
Bennett has caught more than two passes in a game just once all year. Despite otherworldly talent, the tight end isn't worth a fantasy roster spot.

Martellus Bennett has already been flagged for holding four times this season in just seven games.
The record for holding penalties by a tight end in one season is five, set by Shannon Sharpe in 2003. The talented Bennett was a hot sleeper out of training camp but has not been a factor in the offense so far. He has nine catches on 17 targets and should be left on waiver wires.

The "significant offer" the Cowboys turned down at the trade deadline was for young tight end Martellus Bennett, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen.
The Bengals, who lost Ben Utecht (concussion) and Reggie Kelly (Achilles) in the preseason and have been frustrated by rookie Chase Coffman, are the ones that made the offer. After creating major hype with a big camp, Bennett has been a bust in the passing game this season. He has just four catches for 40 yards on the year.

Cowboys beat writer Clarence E. Hill Jr. says that Martellus Bennett's lack of production is not the tight end's fault.
Hill says that Tony Romo is not looking for Bennett, and the Cowboys simply aren't drawing up plays for him. "We were sold a bill of goods in the preseason," says Hill. The training camp darling can be dropped in redraft leagues.

Martellus Bennett caught just one pass for the third straight game Monday night.
The Cowboys are using a two-tight end set as their base, but it's not resulting in production for Bennett. He was targeted on a goal-line fade route Monday, but never really had a chance to make the catch. The training camp darling can safely be dropped in redraft leagues.

Martellus Bennett had one catch for 11 yards in Sunday night's loss to the Giants.
This was the same story as Week 1. Bennett was on the field plenty, but he was used as a decoy for the Cowboys to run draws. If he split out wide and a linebacker followed him, Tony Romo audibled to Marion Barber. It's not looking like the Cowboys are planning on developing plays to get him the ball.

Though the Cowboys lined up in plenty of two-tight end sets in Week 1, Martellus Bennett was often utilized as a decoy.
Bennett was split out wide which forced the Bucs into mismatches that ultimately led to big scoring plays by Roy Williams and Patrick Crayton. Bennett will remain a red zone weapon, but his week-to-week consistency will be lacking depending on how defenses choose to cover him.

Martellus Bennett caught just one pass for 13 yards in Week 1.
Dallas used lots of two-tight end sets, especially in the red zone. We like Bennett to improve on his already-impressive rookie year numbers, but his ceiling is capped by his backup/situational role and a more balanced Cowboys mindset.

Martellus Bennett caught three balls for 51 yards on Friday in Minnesota.
Bennett finished the preseason as the Cowboys' leading receiver, notching 12 catches for 155 yards. Bennett is a big-play threat for the Cowboys behind Jason Witten.

Martellus Bennett caught four passes for 65 yards against the Titans Friday night.
The good news is that Bennett is much better than a second tight end and is too much to handle for any defender one-on-one. The bad news is that the Cowboys rarely lined up in two-tight end sets despite indicating otherwise all offseason.

The Cowboys surprisingly used the two tight-end sparingly Thursday night, even though they had been working on it all camp.
Talented Martellus Bennett was on the field for only three of the nine plays on the starters' TD drive. Despite all the hype, we doubt Bennett will be a fantasy factor this season unless something happens to Jason Witten.

According to Cowboys TE Jason Witten, "there are some things planned for [Martellus Bennett] in a big way."
More gushing for the unquestioned star of Cowboys' camp. If you believe everything you hear out of Dallas, Bennett is Jerry Rice in a tight end's body. The Cowboys are going to run a lot more two tight end sets, but it's hard to see the second-year man's numbers rising to TE1 status unless something happens to Witten.

Cowboys executive VP Stephen Jones suggested the team's wide receivers will lose targets to tight ends and running backs this season.
"The second receiver doesn't always have to be a receiver," Jones said. "It can be [Jason] Witten. It can be Martellus [Bennett]. We've got three running backs." The Dallas Morning News joins ESPN.com's Matt Mosley in predicting that Bennett will double last year's production (20/283/4) as the main beneficiary of T.O.'s exit.

Through roughly one week of camp, it's "become increasingly evident" that the Cowboys' base offense will involve a two-tight end set.
"Every day you see him make a play," coach Wade Phillips said of No. 2 TE Martellus Bennett. "Two tights" uses one back (Marion Barber) and is often a power running formation. Also, one of the TEs is bound to get matched up on a linebacker. Expect both Bennett and Jason Witten's numbers to rise.

ESPN.com's Matt Mosley believes Cowboys TE Martellus Bennett could catch 45 passes and five or six touchdowns this season.
Mosley covered the Cowboys as a beat writer for seven years. Cowboys coaches are making it a point to get "Marty B" and Jason Witten on the field together, so the highly athletic Bennett will see a lot of action in two-tight end sets.

The Cowboys are installing more two tight-end packages this season in order to take advantage of Martellus Bennett's talent.
Owner Jerry Jones believes a "really focused" Bennett has earned a much bigger role in the offense. The 22-year-old's fantasy value will be held back by the presence of Jason Witten, but Dynasty leaguers should be stashing the top-flight talent.

Martellus Bennett envisions a bigger role for himself in the Cowboys' offense this season.
The team's website notes that "Cowboys quarterbacks seem to be looking for (Bennett) more often than they did last season." Bennett flashed enormous upside with four TDs and a 14.2 YPC average on 20 receptions as a rookie. He's Jason Witten's backup, but will be a fantasy starter if Witten goes down.

Cowboys TE Martellus Bennett, recently fined for a profanity-laced YouTube video, was reportedly challenged to a fight by special teams captain Keith Davis during the season.
Davis didn’t appreciate Bennett’s notorious "laissez-faire style," which was on display throughout HBO's Hard Knocks during training camp. Bennett is a dominant young talent, but may take awhile to shake the immaturity concerns.

FOXSports' Jay Glazer reports that Martellus Bennett was fined one game check (roughly $22,000) by the Cowboys for his profanity-filled YouTube video. The Cowboys labeled the violation "conduct detrimental to the club."
Jerry Jones wasn't going to cut his 2008 second-rounder over the disturbing "rap," but if Bennett had been a late-rounder he'd probably be gone. This should blow over by camp as long as Bennett keeps his nose clean until July.

The Cowboys are reportedly looking into ways to discipline and/or fine TE Martellus Bennett for his profanity-laced YouTube video.
The video has since been removed, but Bennett's wearing of a Cowboys helmet while using derogatory terms towards black and gays is undoubtedly conduct detrimental to the team. It's also incredibly stupid. The laid-back 21-year-old is in need of a serious attitude adjustment this offseason.
