Giants rookie WR Ramses Barden is not expected to be active Sunday.
Barden, a third-rounder out of Cal Poly, won't play a snap all season. Coach Tom Coughlin did say he's seen plenty from Barden at practice and he looks forward to working with the raw Barden during the offseason. At 6'6, Barden is touted as a potential red zone threat but he doesn't appear close to making an impact.

Giants declared WR Ramses Barden, WR Sinorice Moss, TE Darcy Johnson, CB Corey Webster, RB Danny Ware, DB Aaron Ross, RT Kareem McKenzie, and OL Adam Koets inactive for Monday Night Football.
Ross and Webster's absences force 5'8" Kevin Dockery into the starting lineup, which improves Jason Campbell's matchup. Undrafted rookie Bruce Johnson will play in nickel packages. Ware's inactivity leaves the Giants with Gartrell Johnson behind top RBs Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw.

Giants declared WR Ramses Barden, DB D.J. Johnson, RB Gartrell Johnson, OT Adam Koets, OT Guy Whimper, WR Sinorice Moss, TE Bear Pascoe and DT Rocky Bernard inactive for Sunday Night Football against the Eagles.
Offensive lineman Chris Snee and safety Michael Johnson are good to for the Giants, who are hosting the Eagles on Sunday Night Football.

Giants coach Tom Coughlin indicated that Ramses Barden could be a red-zone option in the near future.
Barden, a 6'6 rookie, has been active in just two games because of his struggles on special teams and inability to adjust to the speed of the NFL game coming out of I-AA Cal Poly. Still, the Giants are in desperate need of a red-zone threat and Barden is a name to keep an eye on in dynasty leagues.

According to beat writer Ralph Vacchiano, Ramses Barden was the most impressive rookie in Giants training camp.
Vacchiano projects Hakeem Nicks to have a better year, but Barden has dominated New York's second- and third-team defenses in practice. Barden seems on pace to make an eventual impact, quite possibly as a future starter opposite Nicks or Mario Manningham. He just won't do much in 2009.

Giants rookie WR Ramses Barden has reportedly been the "breakout player of camp."
The 6'6 Barden was expected to be relegated to a red-zone specialist role, but he's shown nice chemistry with Eli Manning and making big plays. He's been much more polished than expected coming out of Cal Poly. Keep an eye on his progress during preseason action.

Giants rookie WR Ramses Barden already has Eli Manning's eye.
When asked how the receivers are doing, Manning complimented Barden first. Still, it's unlikely the 6-foot-6 man from Cal Poly will be on the field too much this season. The Giants are too deep at receiver and his learning curve is too steep coming from Division 1-AA.

Rookie wideout Ramses Barden "won't make much of an impact" in his first season, according to SI.com's Peter King.
King points to Barden's adjustment from a small school to the big time, but we're more concerned with the Cal Poly alum's ability to beat press coverage. Barden has struggled to explode off the line in OTAs and on into camp.

Giants signed third-round WR Ramses Barden to a four-year, $2.48 million contract, including a $731,000 signing bonus.
Barden's massive hands and frame are intriguing, but he couldn't beat press coverage during OTAs and looked slow off the line. Ideally, Barden will emerge as Plaxico Burress' eventual replacement. He's a far cry from being that polished, however, and will struggle just to dress on Sundays as a rook.

Giants rookie Ramses Barden isn't expected to be more than a situational player in his first year.
It'll be a surprise if Barden is even active on most game days. He's too slow to return kicks and has a long list of bodies to pass at wideout. Backup receivers don't usually dress if their only value is in red-zone situations.

Giants beat writer Ralph Vacchiano observes that rookie wideout Ramses Barden has looked "slow out of the blocks" during OTAs.
Release off the line is always a major concern for big receivers. Barden (6'6/227), the biggest wideout in April's draft, reportedly looks "deliberate" on his first two steps. We don't expect him to play much in year one.

Ramses Barden suffered an apparent hamstring injury during Saturday's practice.
The injury doesn't appear to be major, but Barden sat out the remainder of practice.

Giants GM Jerry Reese expects third-round WR Ramses Barden to "contribute right away as a threat down in the red zone."
Barden's 6'6/227 frame will remind Giants fans of Plaxico Burress, using his height to outleap defenders in the end zone. Barden won't have a high reception total, but he could end up with a handful of touchdowns as a rookie.

Giants selected Cal Poly WR Ramses Barden with the No. 85 overall pick in the NFL Draft.
He struggled to create separation in the Senior Bowl and there is concern that he doesn't use his 6'6/227 frame well. But Barden has good hands and could be a red zone threat in years to come. Look for Barden to sit a lot as a rookie while he develops, but the Giants wideout depth chart is wide open long term.

Cal Poly WR Ramses Barden posted forty times of 4.51 and 4.55 at his Pro Day on Friday.
Barden, 6'6/227, improved on his 4.61 Combine time, which was already impressive for a player of his size. He also posted a 10-foot, 2-inch broad jump and ran a 7.10 three-cone in addition to catching the ball well in drills. Barden looks like a potential late-second, early-third round pick.

Cal Poly WR Ramses Barden posted an official forty time of 4.61 at the NFL Scouting Combine Sunday.
At 6'6/227 even a time in the low to mid-4.6s would've been good for the small-school prospect. No wideout in the draft has longer arms or bigger hands. Barden's catcher's mitts measure in at nearly 11 inches.

NFL Network's Mike Mayock observed that Cal Poly WR Ramses Barden showed little separation ability at Senior Bowl practices.
Barden can make up for some of his modest quickness with size (6'6/227), but he'll need to run a good forty at February's Combine to be a top-three round pick. A good target time would be James Hardy's 4.48 from last year.

Cal Poly WR Ramses Barden measured in at 6'6/227 at Monday's Senior Bowl weigh-in. He also had bigger hands than any senior receiver.
Cal Poly's best prospect since Chris Gocong, Barden also had the longest arms (33 3/4 inches) of any receiver at the event. Only USC's Patrick Turner (33 inches) came close. Quan Cosby of Texas' 30-inch arms were shortest.
