Rick DiPietro was saddled with his fifth loss of the season as the Islanders fell to the Hurricanes 3-1 on Saturday evening.
DiPietro was relative untested throughout the night as he only faced 25 shots during the contest. He stopped 22 of them but was unable to pick up the victory. Dippy is now win-less in his last five appearances and will most likely split time with Dwayne Roloson for the remainder of the season.

Rick DiPietro will get the start Saturday against the Hurricanes Saturday.
He was first off the ice during Saturday morning's skate. Adjust your goaltending rotation accordingly.

 Martin Biron-G- IslandersFeb. 2 - 4:53 pm et
Martin Biron has been assigned to the minors on a conditioning stint.
He is expected to rejoin the team on Sunday. Biron is currently the third wheel in the Islanders' goalie crease behind Rick DiPietro and Dwayne Roloson. He isn't expected to see any playing time on Long Island and will likely be traded when another NHL suitor is found.

Rick Dipietro turned aside 24 of 27 New Jersey shots in the Islanders' 4-2 loss Saturday night.
DiPietro has been solid in his past three games, while allowing just two goals in consecutive wins before tonight's loss. One of those victories was a 20-save shutout over those same Devils on Jan. 18 in his last start. The Islanders’ netminder continues to shake off the rust after missing nearly two seasons with knee injuries. DiPietro will likely continue to share time with Dwayne Roloson in the New York crease.

It is likely that Rick DiPietro will get the start against New Jersey Saturday.
He shut the Devils out on Monday and it seems logical he will get another chance to face them Saturday. Adjust your goaltending rotation accordingly.

Although there is no official word out of Long Island, all signs point to Rick DiPietro getting the start against the Sabres Saturday.
It would be his second start since coming back from a knee injury that had kept him out the entire first half of the season. The Isles play five games in the next eight nights and Dwayne Roloson and DiPietro will likely split starts with Martin Biron getting into a game as well.

 Martin Biron-G- IslandersJan. 11 - 2:10 pm et
Coach Scott Gordon said the goaltending rotation is now pretty much between Rick DiPietro and Dwayne Roloson.
That makes Martin Biron the Islanders' third string goaltender going forward. "We have to get Ricky going, but we also have to be smart," Scott Gordon said. If DiPietro stays healthy and starts to play effectively, the Islanders will probably try to trade Biron. Until they do, Biron isn't expected to have any fantasy value.

Rick DiPietro (knee) could return to the Islanders' lineup by Saturday.
DiPietro is traveling with the Islanders on a road trip that includes games in Colorado on Wednesday, Dallas on Thursday, and Phoenix on Saturday. He could make his season debut during this trip. "It's exciting," DiPietro said. "It feels good to feel like myself again. It's been a long time since I've been healthy. At this point, it's just about continuing to get sharp and game-ready." After all the setbacks DiPietro has suffered along the way, it's hard to believe DiPietro is really going to return to the Islanders' lineup this week. Even if he does, there's no way of knowing how effective he'll be. DiPietro hasn't played in an NHL game since January 2nd, 2009, so he might need some time to shake off the rust. We recommend erring on the side of caution when it comes to DiPietro, but he's certainly worth keeping an eye on.

 Martin Biron-G- IslandersDec. 19 - 10:56 pm et
Martin Biron allowed three goals on 28 Montreal shots in the Islanders 3-0 loss Saturday night.
Biron was making his first start since a December 8th loss to Philadelphia in which he allowed six goals on 37 shots. With Dwayne Roloson enjoying an excellent season for the Islanders, and Rick DiPietro on schedule to return soon, the New York crease is becoming very crowded, very quickly, and Biron looks to be the odd man out.
 Martin Biron-G- IslandersDec. 8 - 9:37 pm et
Martin Biron did not fare well in the 6-2 loss to the Flyers Tuesday night.
Biron has seen considerably less time than Dwayne Roloson this season. He has also played considerably worse than Roloson. Fantasy owners shouldn’t be taking Biron too seriously in his limited backup role.

Rick DiPietro (knee) is expected to start Saturday night for the Islanders' AHL affiliate in Bridgeport.
It will be his first game action in over 11 months. DiPietro is expected to play only one period Saturday and then play a full game Friday or next Saturday followed by another full game on the 15th of December. If all goes well, he will be back with the Islanders on the 16th and could start on the 19th against Montreal. DiPietro's ultimate return will force the Isles to choose between Martin Biron and Dwayne Roloson as the team's second goalie. Stay tuned.

 Rick DiPietro-G- IslandersNov. 30 - 5:05 pm et
GM Garth Snow said the Islanders are targeting mid-December for Rick DiPietro's return from a knee injury.
We recommend taking any prediction regarding DiPietro's return with a grain of salt. DiPietro has begun to practice with the Islanders, but he has also suffered a number of setbacks in his return from this injury. He was limited to just six games last season and hasn't played since January.

 Martin Biron-G- IslandersNov. 20 - 3:26 pm et
Martin Biron will be in goal for the Islanders on Friday against the Wild.
Biron has posted a 2-5-2 record this season on Long Island with a .913 save percentage and a 2.83 goals-against average. New York plays again on Saturday night and it is likely Dwayne Roloson will start that game versus the Blues.

Martin Biron will be back between the pipes for the Islanders on Friday versus the Devils.
Biron played in the team's 3-0 loss to Buffalo on Wednesday, making 36 saves in the contest. Coach Scott Gordon said that he likes the way Dwayne Roloson matches up against the team's Saturday opponent, the Atlanta Thrashers, so that is what prompted the change in rotation. Adjust your lineup accordingly.

Martin Biron will play between the pipes on Wednesday.
The Islanders will be playing in Buffalo Wednesday, where Biron started his NHL career. Biron played with Buffalo for parts of nine seasons before he was traded to the Philadelphia Flyers in 2006-07.

Martin Biron will start against his former club the Sabres on Saturday.
Despite the fact that Dwayne Roloson was brilliant in Friday's OT win over the Capitals the Isles will go with Biron Saturday. Adjust your goalie rotation accordingly.

Martin Biron will play between the pipes Monday against Montreal.
Biron has struggled early this season with a 3.57 GAA and .889 save percentage in four starts. However, Dwayne Roloson hasn't done much better for the Islanders with a 3.36 GAA and .890 save percentage in five starts. They've been playing in a platoon situation and that's not likely to change until one of them breaks out or Rick DiPietro returns from the injury reserve list.

There is a very strong chance that Martin Biron will get the start Saturday against the Sharks.
Dwayne Roloson was pulled halfway through Friday's game against the Sabres after allowing four goals in a 6-3 loss. As a result, we suspect Isles' coach Scott Gordon will tap Biron on the shoulder for Saturday's contest.

Martin Biron saved 20 of 22 shots as the New York Islanders lost to the Buffalo Sabres 6-3 Friday.
Biron relieved Dwayne Roloson in the second period after Roloson put on an awful performance saving only eight of 12 shots.

Mark Streit notched a power play marker in the Islanders 4-2 loss to New Jersey Tuesday night.
Jack Hillen potted the other goal for New York, which also came with the man advantage. John Tavares recorded a sole assist in the loss. Dwayne Roloson was beaten four times on 20 shots while spending the entire game in net.
 Martin Biron-G- IslandersJul. 22 - 8:41 pm et
Martin Biron has inked a one-year contract worth $1.4 million with the New York Islanders.
The move is somewhat perplexing considering they signed UFA netminder Dwayne Roloson to a two-year, $5 million contract on July 1st. The Islanders also already have Rick DiPietro locked up through the 2020-21 due to his 15-year deal agreed upon in 2005. "Adding Marty gives us three bona-fide number one goalies," general manager Garth Snow said. "We learned about the importance of stability in our line-up from last year and he now allows us to have another quality starter." The Islanders were forced to use a variety of backup goalies last year due to DiPietro's injury woes, so they appear to be loading up on starters. However, they are going to have a crowded crease if all three tenders stay healthy.
