San Diego State redshirt senior TE David Wells accepted an invitation to the East-West Shrine Game.
Wells (6'5/255) was slow to get started after surgery for a Jones fracture last offseason, and he finished with nine receptions for 133 yards and two scores. One of those visits to the end zone was a key touchdown against Stanford back on Sept. 16. He'll look to strengthen his resume with a good showing in the team's Armed Forces Bowl, then he'll attempt to make an argument for a late-Day 3 call during the pre-draft process. Wells' strength is his blocking, and he's proven to be a great friend to Donnel Pumphrey and Rashaad Penny over the last few years. His style of tight end play is drying up in the NFL, but Wells will be given a long look next summer if he can prove elite at his one trick. Dec. 11 - 3:08 pm et
