Tiger Woods withdrew during his opening round of THE PLAYERS, citing his knee and Achille's injuries. Plain and simple, he wasn't ready yet physically. Furthermore, he seems like any other 35-year-old man still learning how his body heals and reacts to treatment when short of 100 percent. His card wasn't pretty today, as he reached the turn in 6-over-par 42, with three bogeys and a triple (par-4 fourth hole). This is the second straight year that he has withdrawn from this event. A neck injury forced him to call it quits after 60 holes in 2010. And as usual, Woods' next start is a question mark. Assuming he doesn't enter either event in Texas over the next two weeks, the Memorial on June 2-5 would serve as site of his next customary appearance. May. 12 - 10:54 am et Source: PGATOUR.com |
