Gary Woodland: Woodland establishes the new clubhouse lead

    Gary Woodland - G - PGA - Aug. 9 - 1:10 pm et

Gary Woodland spun a 5-under-par 33-34=67 in his opening round of the PGA Championship to assume outright possession of the clubhouse lead.
Woodland has endured an interesting season. While working on swing modifications, he's posted just one top 25 in a full-field event, and that was a T24 at the Byron Nelson. He's missed only four cuts, however. Yet, he arrived at Kiawah Island in a rut, cashing in just three of his last six starts with one top 70 and zero rounds in the 60s during that span. Today, he eagled the par-5 11th hole, his second of the day, and rolled in four birdies to erase one bogey. Aug. 9 - 1:10 pm et
