    Charles Howell III: Howell III closes strong in Round 1 of BMW

    Charles Howell III used a late-round birdie train to record a 3-under-par 35-34=69 during round one of the BMW Championship.
    CH3 split just three (of 14) fairways and landed just 10 greens in regulation. Early in the round his score was reflecting that poor ball-striking as he found himself 1-over through 13. From there, he rattled off a four-hole birdie train that included two putts made from outside 14 feet and a chip-in birdie from 21'8" at the par-3 17th. The 37-year-old will be very pleased to escape this round in red numbers and will likely find himself inside the top 15 entering round two. Sep. 8 - 6:50 pm et
