Ian Poulter posted a final round of 1-over-par 72 and won the Barclays Singapore Open by a stroke over W.C. Liang. The final round saw very few birdies by the names at the top of the leaderboard, so Poulter was able to made his low scores in the first two rounds hold up. He did briefly give up the lead in the final round after back-to-back bogeys starting at the 11th hole, but a bounce-back birdie at the 13th moved him back to 10-under for the tournament, which was good for the championship. The wire-to-wire win is Poulter's eighth European title, putting him in sixth place in all-time wins by an English player on the European Tour. He'll play next week with most of the world's top players, including Tiger Woods, at the WGC-HSBC Champions in Shanghai, China. Nov. 1 - 4:15 am et |
