Mets GM Omar Minaya told Newsday's Ken Davidoff Tuesday that Fernando Nieve is "probably fifth on the Mets' starting rotation depth chart." Nieve, 27, had a 2.95 ERA in eight appearances (seven starts) last season, but peel back the curtain a bit and you'll find an ugly 1.50 WHIP and a 23/19 K/BB ratio. He may struggle in the early going if awarded the gig. Keep in mind the Mets are still targeting guys like Ben Sheets and John Smoltz. Jan. 26 - 11:25 am et Source:Ken Davidoff on Twitter
