With no teams willing to pick up all of the incentives he had in his deal with the Padres, frer agent David Wells may not pitch again this year, agent Gregg Clifton said. Wells still gets the $1 million in guaranteed salary he had left on his deal when the Padres cut him, but he could have made another $1.3 million this year in incentives based on games started. There's plenty of interest in Wells at the minimum, but it seems no teams wants to pay him that much. Considering his postseason record, it looks like a small price to pay to us.
