Jason Varitek: Report: Varitek 'deadline' doesn't exist

    Jason Varitek - C - BOS - Jan. 30 - 12:10 pm et

Jayson Stark of ESPN.com reports that the Friday deadline for Jason Varitek to accept the Red Sox's contract offer "doesn't actually exist."
Someone might want to tell that to, say, every media member in the state of Massachusetts. According to Stark, the Red Sox told agent Scott Boras that they would like an answer Friday, but a source told him that a specific deadline is "kind of a media creation." Never before has a 37-year-old coming off a .220/.313/.359 season received this much attention. Jan. 30 - 12:10 pm et
