Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com reports that Geoff Jenkins and the Phillies have reached a preliminary agreement on a two-year deal worth about $13 million. The deal is said to include a third-year option that vests based on plate appearances during the first two seasons, making the contract worth as much as $20 million overall. Jenkins figures to platoon with Jayson Werth in right field and should enjoy hitting in Philadelphia's power-boosting home ballpark. Jenkins was rumored to be interested in signing with San Diego, but the Padres may not have offered a second guaranteed season. Dec. 20 - 9:16 am et Source:ESPN.com
