Damaso Marte (shoulder) has begun playing catch and still hopes to pitch again this season. Yankees manager Joe Girardi said just after the season started that Marte would likely be sidelined all year after undergoing shoulder surgery back in October of 2010. But, Marte has plans to return sometime after the All-Star break. It remains to be seen if he can be effective less than a year after surgery, but with the Yankees getting little help from the left side of their bullpen, they're surely welcome Marte back if he's ready.
