CC Sabathia just didn't have it in game three of the ALDS Monday, allowing four runs on seven hits and six walks in 5 1/3 innings, as the Yankees lost 5-4 in Detroit and moved to within one game of elimination. Sabathia issued four free passes in his first two innings of work, but escaped without allowing a run thanks to a pair of double plays. He allowed four more baserunners in the third, but was able to limit the damage to only two runs courtesy of yet another twin killing. He then set down the Tigers in order in the fourth before allowing a run in the fifth and another in the sixth before manager Joe Girardi's binder finally told him it was time to give his ace the hook. The six walks were more than Sabathia allowed in any regular season outing. He'll now need the Yankees to rally for a five-game ALDS victory if he's to make another start in 2011.
