Jake Peavy: Padres looking at Flowers in Peavy deal

    Jake Peavy - S - SF - Nov. 12 - 2:18 pm et

According to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal, the Padres have decided they prefer Tyler Flowers to Gorkys Hernandez as the second player in a Jake Peavy deal.
Yunel Escobar would be the top property acquired by San Diego. Flowers over Hernandez is interesting. If Flowers were a solid defensive catcher, he'd be a definite top-30 prospect at this point. However, he fits best at first base and the Padres shouldn't need help there anytime soon. Hernandez doesn't have nearly the same offensive potential as Flowers, but he projects as an excellent defensive center fielder. He'd seem to be the better option for San Diego. Nov. 12 - 2:18 pm et
