Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos said negotiations with free agent Marco Scutaro have "stalled more than anything." It's looking more and more likely that Scutaro is a goner. Anthopoulos said that if the Jays did keep Scutaro, it would be on a one-year deal -- probably after the arbitration offer that will officially make Scutaro a Type A free agent if he declined it. Toronto signed veteran John McDonald to a two-year contract on Wednesday, but Anthopoulos said McDonald's role is "undefined" as of now and that he is still searching for a long-term solution at shortstop. Free agents Miguel Tejada and Orlando Cabrera are two options and you can bet Anthopoulos will be scouring the systems of clubs interested in Roy Halladay for shortstop prospects.
