Ed Price of AOL Fanhouse reports that the Pirates are the front-runners to sign free agent RHP D.J. Carrasco. Three other teams are also involved, though they were not mentioned by name. Carrasco, 32, posted a 3.76 ERA and 1.41 WHIP in 93 1/3 innings this season and could see an improvement by leaving U.S. Cellular Field. He was non-tendered by the White Sox in December. Should he sign with Pittsburgh, he could compete for a spot in the starting rotation. Jan. 7 - 5:49 pm et Source:Ed Price on Twitter
