General manager Alex Anthopoulos told Shi Davidi of the Canadian Press that right-hander Dustin McGowan (shoulder) is scheduled to throw off a mound on Friday.
McGowan has been plagued by right shoulder problems since the 2008 season and experienced a series of setbacks last season, including surgery on his right knee, leaving his future very much in question. The 27-year-old right-hander is also out of player options, meaning that he is very likely to start the season on the disabled list so that the Blue Jays can avoid the possibility of him being claimed by another team.
