Melvin Upton: Rays' Upton has rough game in loss

    Melvin Upton - OF - SD - Sep. 16 - 7:30 pm et

B.J. Upton went 0-for-4 and committed his 12th error in 36 games at third base in Saturday's loss.
As is often the case with Upton's errors, he made a nice stab of the ball, had too much time with which to throw and then airmailed the first baseman. It was a play the 6-foot-3 Travis Lee likely would have had, but the 6-foot (maybe) Ty Wigginton just couldn't get up that high. Upton's struggles both offensively and defensively likely mean that he won't be guaranteed a starting job at the beginning of next year. He could really use a big finish. Sep. 16 - 7:30 pm et
