Ryan Braun has hired professional athletes' attorney David Cornwell to help him fight his 50-game ban for testing positive for a PED. Cornwell has defended Reggie Bush, Randy Moss and Gilbert Arenas, amongst others. He issued one statement, saying, "Any report that Ryan ingested a performance-enhancing drug is wrong." Braun tested positive in early-October, displaying testosterone levels that were "insanely high, the highest ever for anyone who has ever taken a test, twice the level of the highest test ever taken," a source told the New York Daily News. When he requested a retest, results were normal. Cornwell is expected to argue that such a significant level of testosterone could not have disappeared from his system in that time, thus a false positive result in the first test. It sounds like a decent defense, but players are 0-for-13 against Major League Baseball in PED test appeals. Braun doesn't have much of a chance of winning his appeal.
