Yunel Escobar: Marlins acquire Escobar from Blue Jays

    Yunel Escobar - 3B - LAA - Nov. 19 - 3:26 pm et

Marlins acquired SS Yunel Escobar, INF Adeiny Hechavarria, RHPs Henderson Alvarez and Anthony DeSclafani, OF Jake Marisnick, LHP Justin Nicolino and C Jeff Mathis from the Blue Jays for SS Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle, RHP Josh Johnson, C John Buck, INF/OF Emilio Bonifacio and cash considerations.
Escobar is the most high-profile player headed to Miami, but since he makes $5 million, he might eventually be flipped elsewhere. Of course, there might not be much interest out there after the 30-year-old batted just .253/.300/.344 with nine home runs, 51 with a .644 OPS in 145 games this season and was suspended for displaying a homophobic message on his eye black. The Marlins plan to give Adeiny Hechavarria a chance at shortstop, so Escobar will play third base if he sticks around. Nov. 19 - 3:26 pm et
