Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News writes that Pablo Sandoval's defense remains inconsistent at third base. Sandoval committed a throwing error in Sunday's game that led to an unearned run for Tim Lincecum. The Giants keep sticking to the company line that they are not concerned about Panda's defense at third base and point to his error total (9) as a reason he is viable. "If he gets his hands on it, he makes the play," Bench coach Ron Wotus said. "Sometimes the tough ones come in bunches." Sandoval's weight and lack of range (which obviously helps him post a lower error total) will ultimately lead to a shift across the diamond, but there is no fantasy implications to this story in 2010.
