Sean McAdam of CSNNE.com predicts that Alfredo Aceves would be used as the Red Sox' closer if Andrew Bailey starts the season on the disabled list. Interesting. We figured Mark Melancon would be the first to get a shot in the ninth inning, but apparently the Red Sox might have more faith in Aceves, who was beaten out by Felix Doubront and Daniel Bard for a rotation spot. The right-hander has just four saves over 114 career appearances but is fully capable of handling the role, having posted a 2.61 ERA and 1.11 WHIP last season.
