Freddy Galvis: Report: Phillies GM high on Freddy Galvis

    Freddy Galvis - SS - PHI - Dec. 3 - 9:01 am et

Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. views minor-league prospect Freddy Galvis as a viable alternative for Jimmy Rollins should he sign elsewhere this offseason.
"I really liked the reports I have gotten on Galvis," Amaro said. ''You never know how a guy is going to react, but we like his maturity level and makeup. Of course, there is a risk, especially when you're talking about replacing a guy who has arguably been the most steady shortstop in the game. But I'm not afraid to take a risk.'' Through the first 32 games of the Venezuelan Winter league, Galvis is hitting .248 with five doubles, three triples, and 14 RBI. He hit .298 over 126 plate appearances at Triple-A Lehigh Valley this past season, with a .977 fielding percentage. Dec. 3 - 9:01 am et
