    Austin Hedges: Hedges stays hot

    Austin Hedges - C - SD - Apr. 24 - 2:31 pm et

Padres prospect C Austin Hedges went 2-for-4 with a double and stolen base on Thursday for Triple-A El Paso.
Hedges has been on a tear to begin the season, batting .359/.444/.641 with seven extra-base hits and a 5/6 strikeout-to-walk ratio through his first 13 games. The 22-year-old backstop has been hitting the ball with authority after making adjustments to his swing, and it certainly doesn’t hurt that he now resides in the offense-heavy Pacific Coast League. Hedges is likely to see time with the Padres this season based on the merits of his defense, but his improvements at the dish and overall uptick in production could get him there ahead of schedule. Apr. 24 - 2:31 pm et
