Anderson Varejao: Cavs F Anderson Varejao expected to opt out

    Anderson Varejao - F/C - CLE - Jun. 1 - 8:24 pm et

Cavaliers forward Anderson Varejao is expected to opt out of his contract this summer, thus becoming an unrestricted free agent on July 1st.
Varejao set career-highs this season in starts (42), points per game (8.6) and field goal percentage (53.6%). He would be making $6.2 million next season and will obviously be looking for a raise, but few teams have cap space to burn on a blue collar power forward. He wants to remain in Cleveland, the Cavs can exceed the salary cap to sign him, and his importance to the team is magnified now that Ben Wallace might retire. Jun. 1 - 8:24 pm et
