The Lakers are interested in Elton Brand, Antawn Jamison, and Jermaine O'Neal for the "veteran minimum." The Lakers would be banking on the Mavs and other under-the-cap teams from bidding on Brand on the amnesty waiver wire, which sounds unrealistic. Jamison is drawing interest from multiple teams and is said to favor the Nets right now, and though he has a connection to Mike Brown it's unlikely he throws away MLE-like money to join in L.A. That leaves Jermaine O'Neal, who fits the definition of 'veteran's minimum.'
