Carmelo Anthony hit 10-of-12 3-pointers (and 13-of-16 from the floor) to score a Team USA Olympic record 37 points in just 14 minutes on Thursday, breaking Stephon Marbury's mark of 31, as they crushed Nigeria by a final score of 156-73. The 156 points marked the highest scoring game in Olympic history, they shot over 70 percent from the floor, which is another record, and tied the record for most assists in a game with 41. They also shattered the old record of 13 3-pointers by draining 29 of them. The only records they didn't approach today were Oscar Schmidt's 55 points in a game in 1988, while the 83-point scoring differential came up 17 points shy of the record. And finally, the U.S. hit 29 3-pointers, while Nigeria made a total of 28 field goals in the game. The U.S. is now 3-0 in pool play. Aug. 2 - 6:58 pm et
