Matt Hasselbeck: Carroll refers to QB Hasselbeck in past tense

    Matt Hasselbeck - QB - FA - Mar. 22 - 12:46 pm et

Speaking at the NFL owners meetings Tuesday, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll used the past tense to describe contract negotiations with free agent Matt Hasselbeck.
"We made a run at getting it done before the stoppage and just weren't able to work anything out," said Carroll. "... In my mind, it kind of came right down to the final day of it. We made an effort and they made an effort. We just have to see what happens." The Seahawks likely still have some level of interest in retaining Hasselbeck, but he won't be back if they acquire Kevin Kolb. Seattle is believed to have its first-round pick on the table.
