Teemu Selanne: Selanne will start 2013-14 on second line

    Teemu Selanne - W - ANA - Sep. 3 - 9:36 am et

Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau plans to start Teemu Selanne on the second line this season.
As previously mentioned, Boudreau and Selanne discussed what his role would be with the team and the possibility of falling on the depth charts if he struggles. Those talks helped him decide to come back for a final season. "He's an icon," Boudreau said. "He's one of the greatest players to ever play the game. The last thing I ever wanted to do was embarrass him. I think I understood where he was coming from and his mindset. You just want to know what your role is and where you fit in. He's not coming back to play just for the heck of it because he's got nothing to do. He still has the passion and the desire to be the best player." Selanne has a decent shot of getting over 50 points in 2013-14. Sep. 3 - 9:36 am et
