Ben Lovejoy: Ben Lovejoy thriving as big-minute defenseman

    Ben Lovejoy - D - PIT - Oct. 12 - 8:48 am et

The Ducks have been a perfect match for Ben Lovejoy, and the defenseman is excelling because of it.
Lovejoy was convinced if last season's campaign was canceled, his career was done, and now he has emerged as a workhorse blueliner, playing over 20 minutes per game, paired with Cam Fowler. "He was never able to crack the top six so he’s always been a seventh (defenseman)," coach Bruce Boudreau said. "And when you’re a seventh, what you do is you’re nervous when you get in. Because if you make a mistake, you’re back out of the lineup. I think when he got in and starting playing regularly, his confidence got up. He started playing like the guy that everyone thought he could be when he first went to Pittsburgh." Oct. 12 - 8:48 am et
