Nino Niederreiter: Isles draft Swiss scorer Niederreiter

    Nino Niederreiter - W - MIN - Jun. 25 - 7:59 pm et

Nino Niederreiter has been taken by the New York Islanders with the fifth overall selection in the 2010 draft.
Those who watched the World Junior Championship have definitely heard Niederreiter's name before. The Swiss forward had a penchant for scoring big goals, a trait that not many Swiss players possess. Scouts are drooling over Nino's passion for the game. This was exhibited when he spurned the Swiss Elite League in order to play in the WHL with Portland. That kind of determination is grounds for a high draft pick. Keep in mind Niederreiter was an epic goal scorer, registering 36 goals in 65 games this season. He is the highest Swiss-born player taken in the draft in NHL history. He should get a look at training camp this fall. Jun. 25 - 7:59 pm et
