According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Dodgers are "increasingly likely" to land Manny Machado.

Rosenthal notes that several of the other teams tied to Machado also "expect that outcome." There were a number of reports Tuesday suggesting a last-minute play from the Phillies, but the Dodgers apparently have the best offer on the table and it sounds like the medicals and paperwork might already be done. Look for something official by Wednesday afternoon. Major League Baseball frowns on its clubs making big announcements on the day of the All-Star Game.

Wilson Ramos (hamstring) will open the second half of the season on the disabled list.

Ramos suffered a left hamstring strain on Saturday against the Twins and won't be ready when play resumes after the All-Star break. The move can be made retroactive to July 15, which means Ramos would be first eligible to return next Wednesday, July 25. The 30-year-old catcher is one of the biggest trade chips for the Rays with the July 31 non-waiver deadline fast approaching.

Brewers signed RHP Jeffrey Ames to a minor league contract; assigned him to Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Ames, a supplemental first-round pick of the Rays back in 2011, had registered a 5.70 ERA and 34/10 K/BB ratio in 23 2/3 innings of relief this season with the Nationals' Double-A affiliate in the Eastern League. The 27-year-old right-hander will now function as minor league bullpen depth for Milwaukee.
Jul 17 - 5:03 PM

Brewers optioned RHP Alec Asher to Triple-A Colorado Springs.

Asher was called up last Thursday to provide the Brewers with a little extra relief depth heading into the final weekend before the All-Star break. The 26-year-old right-hander has pitched three scoreless innings of relief this season at the MLB level and should get another look at some point in the second half.
Jul 17 - 4:57 PM

Andrew Miller (knee) pitched a hitless inning in his rehab debut Tuesday at Triple-A Columbus.

Miller struck out two of the three batters he faced and needed just 12 pitches to record a 1-2-3 frame against the Triple-A affiliate of the Phillies. The 33-year-old left-hander figures to make one or two more appearances at the Triple-A level before returning to the Indians' bullpen shortly after the All-Star break. He has been out since May 26 with a right knee injury.
Jul 17 - 4:54 PM

Stephen Strasburg (shoulder) will return to the Nationals' rotation Friday against the Braves.

Strasburg allowed just one earned run over nine innings on his two-start minor league rehab assignment with High-A Potomac, tallying 12 strikeouts against one walk. And he made it up to 82 pitches in his last outing there Sunday, so there shouldn't be any limitations on the 29-year-old right-hander in his first start back Friday versus Atlanta. Strasburg has been sidelined since June 10 due to inflammation in his throwing shoulder.
