The Montreal Canadiens have assigned Josh Brook back to his junior team.

Brook will head back to the WHL to play with the Moose Jaw Warriors. The 19-year-old was drafted by the Habs in the second round of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. He signed his entry-level contract with the Canadiens earlier today. He's one of their better prospects on defense.

The Montreal Canadiens have assigned Joel Teasdale back to QMJHL Blainville-Boisbriand.

Teasdale impressed management enough during training camp to earn himself an entry-level contract. The 19-year-old had 32 goals and 65 points in 65 QMJHL games last season.

Jordan Ernst has been cut from Calgary's training camp roster.

Ernst was attending the Flames' camp on a tryout basis, but he's been invited to attend AHL Stockton's training camp instead. He had 27 goals and 54 points in 68 OHL contests in 2017-18.

Freddie Tiffels has been placed on unconditional waivers.

If Tiffels goes unclaimed then his contract will be terminated. He had 33 points in 44 ECHL games and three points in 12 AHL contests last season.

The St. Louis Blues have waived Jordan Nolan.

Nolan had eight points and 69 penalty minutes in 69 games with the Buffalo Sabres last season. He agreed to a one-year, two-way contract with St. Louis over the summer.

The Florida Panthers have placed Michael Hutchinson on waivers.

Hutchinson had a 2.08 GAA and .935 save percentage in 26 AHL contests last season. He's a veteran of 102 NHL games and there's an outside chance someone will claim him if they see him as an upgrade over their existing backup. Philadelphia also might be interested here, depending on the status of Michal Neuvirth, who is dealing with an unspecified injury.
