Everton have been playing much better in recent weeks and have several fantasy weapons with plenty of upside at a very reasonable price.

Romelu Lukaku (£ 8.48M), Kevin Mirallas (£ 7.84M), Aaron Lennon (£ 7.45M) and Ross Barkley (£ 7.27M) have all been fantasy relevant in the past and it stands to reason that at least a couple of them will produce significant value in relation to the price. This weekend may not look too convincing with Manchester United as their opponent, but matches against Aston Villa, Sunderland and West Ham immediately thereafter should entice investment.

Manuel Pellegrini is sweating on the fitness of a number of his first team players after Gael Clichy, James Milner and Vincent Kompany picked up injuries during the derby loss to Manchester United. However the Chilean has been boosted by the news that David Silva returned to training less than 48 hours after the Spanish midfielder was taken to hospital with suspected collar and cheekbone fractures.

Silva needed medical attention for several minutes and as the player left the field on a stretcher [requiring oxygen] the early signs did not look good; however after further tests the player was released on Sunday evening. The sight of Silva in training on Tuesday will be welcomed by City who have a growing injury list with up-to 7-players at risk of missing out against Aston Villa in GW34. Wilfried Bony [ankle and knee] is struggling while Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri [unspecified] are doubts. James Milner [knee] is ongoing and Vincent Kompany may not play again this term.

Newcastle United received a fitness boost amid their six game losing streak as Paul Dummett has stepped up his recovery from a knee injury and looks set to make the squad this weekend in their match with Swansea City.

With the array of key players unavailable due to injury, or in Papiss Cisse's case, suspension and a manager who is likely not to stick around, it is no wonder that the Magpies have been in a tailspin, but Dummett's return is still a welcome one regardless. It may be a blow for fantasy managers though, as Dummett's presence looks to come at the expense of Ryan Taylor. While Taylor is a set piece machine and one of the best fantasy full backs in the Premier League, he is also a defensive liability and John Carver will have to decide what personnel gives him the best shot at ending this streak. With over two months sidelined, Dummett is a better bet to play the role of substitute against the Swans, so Taylor owners may get by with him for another week, but after that, his spot is in jeopardy.

Injury problems are beginning to mount for Manchester United as Rafael [ribs] and Adnan Januzaj [ankle] picked up problems playing for the under-21s on Monday. However Louis van Gaal is hopeful that Marcos Rojo, Phil Jones and Daley Blind will be available for this weekends’ trip to Goodison Park although Michael Carrick remains a doubt due a persistent calf problem.

The United development side took on Leicester but not all the news was bad as Robin van Persie continued his recovery from ankle ligament damage to play over an hour while defender Jonny Evans started for the first time since completing his 6-game ban. United sit just 1-point above their city rivals in third place following defeat at Stamford Bridge on Saturday and Louis van Gaal will be keen to welcome back any of the quartet despite producing "Our best match of the season." A return for either Blind or Carrick is likely to release Wayne Rooney with the captain moving back into a more attacking role.

With a big match in store this weekend against Manchester United, Steven Pienaar and Leon Osman will be monitored during the week, casting a doubt on their chances of making Roberto Martinez's XI.

Pienaar had an extended layoff due to a knee injury but looked sharp in his shift against Swansea City, when he came on inside the first half hour of the match to replace the injured Osman. Neither were involved in the victory over Burnley in their latest outing but neither have been ruled out yet for the clash with the Red Devils. With Kevin Mirallas back and scoring and Aaron Lennon perhaps their best player on the pitch in the past month, the wide positions may be spoken for regardless/

Jason Shackell had a terrible fantasy day in Burnley's loss to Everton over the weekend but the good news is that it gave him a nice price drop in fantasy.

The Clarets aren't looking the best club to shop for fantasy prospects right now because of recent performance, but while their attack has dried up lately, their defense has been pretty good. They will need the unit to step up this weekend when they host the upstart Foxes. Investment may not be wise, especially because of the double gameweek, but he may be worth scooping up at some point before season's end.

Leicester City made it 3-wins on the trot with victory over Swansea and the Foxes were sent on their way by an unlikely goalscorer as Leonardo Ulloa - who was initially named among the substitutes - grabbed his eight goal of the season.

The unlucky David Nugent felt a little discomfort / tightness in his calf during the warm-up and Ulloa was called into action with less than 15 minutes to kick-off. Nigel Pearson decided not to take any risks and the Argentine was quick to repay his managers faith with a goal before Andy King sealed victory in the dying moments. It was also confirmed that Marcin Wasilewski who was withdrawn at half-time [thigh] was more of a precaution as Pearson switched from a 5-3-2 to a more orthodox 4-4-2 to combat Swansea’s attacking diamond.

A training ground injury for Lucas Leiva ruled the midfielder out of Sundays’ FA Cup semi-final against Aston Villa handing Steven Gerrard an opportunity to return to the side.

Lucas has been in great form since returning from a muscular problem but the Brazilian suffered a thigh injury on Thursday opening the door for Gerrard who was available again following his 3-game suspension. A Wembley appearance in his final Liverpool game – before a move to MLS side LA Galaxy – was seen by many as the perfect end to a wonderful Liverpool career but after 700+ matches spanning over 15 years it wasn’t meant to be. Despite Philippe Coutinho opening the scoring it was Villa who hit back with goals from the in-form Christian Benteke and Fabian Delph; although Mario Balotelli had an equaliser wrongly disallowed for off-side it was the Claret and Blues who thoroughly deserved the win.

Spanish playmaker David Silva was taken to hospital on Sunday after the diminutive midfielder was caught by the elbow of Cheikhou Kouyate.

After several minutes of treatment which saw Silva lying prostate requiring oxygen the player was stretchered from the field of play with a suspected fractured cheekbone and possible damage to his collarbone following an awkward fall. However despite the apparent horror of the injury Silva was able to provide his own update post-match via social media "Many thanks to all the messages of support, all the tests have gone well and I’m already home. The 3 points is what was important!" although his involvement in GW34 remains uncertain. Samir Nasri – his replacement – will also be assessed after the Frenchman picked up an unspecified leg injury. City went on to take all three points in the game to help consolidate fourth place and open up a 7-point gap over Liverpool.

Nathan Baker became the second Aston Villa defender within the last week to suffer a knee ligament injury which is almost certain to end his season.

Baker was drafted into Tim Sherwood’s FA Cup semi-final side following the news that Ciaran Clark had suffered a medial knee ligament injury which would keep him out until next season but the defender lasted less than half an hour. The news will serve as a hammer blow for Villa who pulled off an unexpected win over Liverpool to reach the final at Wembley while the Claret and Blues sit just 4-points above the relegation zone. Ron Vlaar and Jores Okore – themselves no stranger to the treatment room – are tasked with staying fit and helping Villa to retain their top-flight status "They're the only two we're going with between now and the end of the season, so we're not blessed in defensive areas," which suggests Phillippe Senderos is also sidelined for the rest of the campaign.
Apr 19 - 5:21 PM

Manchester City got back on track today with a relatively comfortable 2-0 win over West Ham United, leaving them seven points clear of Liverpool for the final Champions League spot.

It was a walk in the park for City, as their opponent gave very little effort from the opening whistle and it was 2-0 and too late for the Hammers by the time they started to come to life. Jesus Navas was man of the match, and his attempted cross to Sergio Aguero in the 18th minute led to a James Collins own goal. The City pair would team up again in the 36th minute, as a turnover by Stewart Downing saw the Sky Blues on the break, with Aguero dribbling down the center and Navas flying open down the right. Aguero played a 1-2, Navas teed him up, and the Argentine became the first player to reach 20 goals on the season. On the down side, David Silva took an elbow to the jaw and was stretchered off, so his availability next week is already a major doubt.
