Luis Suarez return to Liverpool's first team could be at Manchester United in the League Cup third round, September 23.

That match becomes a must-watch, if it wasn't before. That is assuming, of course, that Suarez is still a Liverpool player by then.

David Moyes moved quickly to ease fears that Aaron Cresswell is set for another spell on the sidelines but admitted the injury to Manuel Lanzini is a worry.

The West Ham full-back, who has been hampered in recent weeks due to an ongoing back problem, was carried from the pitch in time added on sparking concerns that he had suffered an ankle injury. However, in the post-match briefing, Moyes revealed Cresswell was suffering from cramp [in his right calf] and he is expected to be fine for next weekend’s FA Cup fourth-round clash at Wigan. By far, the greater concern was the injury sustained by Argentine playmaker Lanzini who will have a scan on his hamstring over the coming days. "We hope Mano's isn't serious," said Moyes. "It’s the Lanzini one that we're worried about. I don't think you can suddenly say, okay we'll go out, see if someone else is out there waiting to be bought of the level of Lanzini, because I don't think you've got that."

Michel Vorm is on standby for the game at Southampton on Sunday after Mauricio Pochettino flagged Hugo Lloris a doubt for the trip due to illness.

The Tottenham captain has started all but one Premier League game this season [missing the Crystal Palace win in November], after picking up a hip flexor strain during the Champions League victory over Real Madrid. Paul Gazzaniga deputised that day, but Vorm is back in contention and poised to make his first league start since April 2017. "I don't know [if Lloris will be fit]," Pochettino told reporters on Friday. "Difficult to say. We need to wait and then assess him [on Saturday] and if he's available or not. I think it's a flu or a virus. I think everyone, with this weather, has struggled a little bit. It's an epidemic across Europe, not just here in the UK." Harry Kane also missed sessions during the warm-weather training camp in Barcelona earlier in the week, but the in-form striker re-joined the group at the Enfield Training Complex on Friday.

Manchester United delivered a classic José Mourinho era performance as they overcame Burnley 1-0 at Turf Moor.

For a few hours at least, the gap to league leaders Manchester City is down to nine points. The first half was uneventful, as Burnley forced just two saves out of David De Gea whilst United never managed to make superior possession translate into a single shot on target, highlighting where the guile of Alexis Sanchez would help them. United's best movement in the first half came down the left where Young and Martial were having some success, and it was the latter who opened the scoring with a great finish off the crossbar with United's first shot on target. Burnley almost hit back immediately as Gudmundsson struck the cross bar from a free-kick. United stepped back and left Burnley attack them, and the hosts created a number of half-chances they ultimately couldn't finish whilst United spurned a few good opportunities on the counter.

Thanks to Oumar Niasse's equalizer, Everton secured a point at home in a 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion.

Sporting a new-look side with Cenk Tosun flanked by Theo Walcott up top, the Toffees struggled to mesh. Things were compounded when Jay Rodriguez put the Baggies ahead in the seventh minute after a Grzegorz Krychowiak pass found a breach in the Everton defense. But in the final 30 minutes of the match, Sam Allardyce sent Wayne Rooney and Oumar Niasse on to change the match, and within 56 seconds of entering, Niasse played the star. Following a scramble in the box, Rooney played the ball across to Walcott, who flicked on to Niasse for the equalizer. But the point comes at a cost as James McCarthy was stretchered off in the 57th minute with a gruesome injury.

Two second half goals shared equally between West Ham and Bournemouth mean that both sides continue their moves away from the relegation zone.

Bournemouth grabbed the lead against the run of play in the 71st minute with their first shot on target of the game. Junior Stanislas delivered a through ball to Ryan Fraser who slammed it past Adrián. However the Cherries' lead did last very long as substitute Javier Hernandez reminded David Moyes why he deserves a starting place in the team. The Mexico striker reacted fastest to finish after Begovic had saved a shot from the in-form Marko Arnautovic. Stanislas went closest to scoring the winner but Adrian was equal to his effort.

Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez both scored as Leicester City moved up to seventh in the table with a 2-0 win over Watford at King Power Stadium.

Both sides traded chances before Leicester took a deserved lead in the 39th minute. Having seen two major chances in the early stages, Vardy latched onto a through-ball and drew a penalty from Watford center-back Molla Wague. The England international took the honors and made no mistake, firing the home side in front with his 10th league goal of the season. Wilfred Ndidi was lively throughout and had a pair of powerful efforts blocked in the second half, but it was Mahrez who sealed the match in stoppage time. The Algerian made sure of all three points with moment of individual brilliance, as he dribbled past Christian Kabasele and finished into the bottom corner from a tight angle.

Nacho Monreal scored and provided two assists inside of 13 minutes as Arsenal battered Crystal Palace 4-1.

It was a route from the outset as Arsenal scored all four of their goals inside of 22 minutes as Monreal, Iwobi, Koscielny, and Lacazette all helped the Gunners start to move on from their soon to be former talisman Alexis Sanchez. The only downside was Nacho Monreal going off in the first half after laying waste to Palace for just over 30 minutes.

Watford have now lost eight of their last 11 league matches following a 2-0 defeat at Leicester City.

Watford have struggled since their hot start to the season and won just once since November. Marco Silva deployed an attack-minded lineup at King Power Stadium but the trio of Richarlison, Andre Carrillo and Troy Deeney were unable to impact truly put Leicester under pressure. The Hornets went behind on 39 minutes when Molla Wague brought down Jamie Vardy and the striker converted from the spot mark. Wague was then forced off in the second-half with what appeared to be a hamstring problem, while Riyad Mahrez capped off the match with strike in the stoppage-time. The fitness of Wague will be a concern for Silva as his side are already without a handful of defenders.

New Stoke City manager Paul Lambert won his first match in charge as the Potters topped Huddersfield Town 2-0 at the Bet365 Stadium.

Lambert, who succeeded Mark Hughes on Monday, began his spell at Stoke in fine fashion. Boosted by the return of defensive anchor and captain Ryan Shawcross, the Potters kept their first clean sheet since mid-December. After a goalless first-half, Joe Allen broke the deadlock when he steered home a cross from Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting in the 53rd minute. The home side took control of the match following Allen's goal and then doubled their advantage with a nifty team goal. Choupo-Moting was again the catalyst, as Xherdan Shaqiri and Mame Biram Diouf then combined on the edge of the area before the latter finished past Town goalkeeper Jonas Lossl. The Potters move out of the relegation zone with the victory.

Huddersfield Town have now lost three straight matches following a 2-0 defeat at Stoke City.

Town boss David Wagner handed Alex Pritchard his full debut and brought in Steve Mounie for Laurent Depoitre up front. However, the attacking changes weren't enough to get his side past Stoke. The Terriers did manage three shots on target, including a Mounie strike from distance late on, though none were enough to put Jack Butland under pressure. Joe Allen struck early in the second-half and Mame Biram Diouf added a second with 20 minutes remaining, securing all three points for the Potters. The defeat leaves Huddersfield three points about the relegation zone and winless in their last six matches.
