Matija Nastasic will be available to play against Hull City this weekend.

The information comes straight from Pellegrini's press conference. Nastasic will return to the center of defence alongside Joleon Lescott, with Javi Garcia returning to the bench. And, instantly, City's chances of a clean sheet increase.

SkySports is reporting that West Brom are in talks to sign slumping Watford forward Odion Ighalo.

Perhaps this is the first domino to fall that will eventually result in the long-awaited departure of Saido Berahino. Buying low on a hot and cold player like Ighalo makes a lot of sense for a club like West Brom. They couldn't have afforded him last season when he was scoring for fun from August through December. Now, Watford are likely looking to do anything they can to move on. Even if he isn't a full-time starter, Ighalo could be a valuable reserve who carries Albion for weeks or months at a time when he is in good form.

Arsenal have activated a clause in Per Mertesacker's contract that will tie him to the club for an additional season.

The extension of Mertesacker's contract will see the World Cup winner remain at the club, presumably as a reserve center back and mentor to rising players like Calum Chambers and Rob Holding, through the summer of 2018. Beyond that point, the Gunners will likely have decided if Chambers and/or Holding are good enough to play at the club. If they are, then the club should be set at center back for the foreseeable future. If not, they will have Mertesacker's salary coming off the books to help pay for a replacement.

Kieran Gibbs has been training with the Arsenal squad and will be available to Arsene Wenger in Week 22 for the visit of Burnley.

Before his knee injury, Kieran Gibbs was seeing a rise in his playing time. Between the middling form of Nacho Monreal and the need to rotate players through the holiday fixture congestion, Gibbs was playing regularly and playing well. A familiar issue, a minor injury, disrupted his run of matches. Gibbs has recovered from the injury but it seems likely that Monreal will get the start this weekend with Gibbs resuming his reserve role.

Ronald Koeman confirms goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg has fully recovered from his recent injury but there is a slight doubt over Leighton Baines heading into game week 22.

Stekelenburg suffered a dead leg in the Merseyside derby and spent almost a month on the sidelines before returning to the bench last weekend. The 34-year-old is "100 percent fit to start" but following the 4-0 battering of Man City at Goodison six days ago, it is possible that Koeman could name an unchanged side with Joel Robles continuing between the sticks. Leighton Baines "is struggling a little bit with his rib but normally he would be available," Koeman said. "Otherwise we are the same as last week. The long-term injuries are to Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Mo Besic and Yannick Bolasie."

Francis Coquelin has rejoined training and is available for Arsene Wenger to either start or bring in as a substitute this weekend.

With Granit Xhaka's form and discipline still requiring work, Mohamed Elneny away at the African Cup of Nations, and Santi Cazorla still out injured the return of Francis Coquelin to health is a welcome event at the Emirates. Wenger may or may not opt to start Coquelin so soon after he returned to training but the option to bring him in as a substitute if/once Xhaka picks up his first yellow card is a valuable option.

With Theo Walcott still out injured, Olivier Giroud's ability to shake off a minor complaint to make himself available for the weekend.

It is likely that Arsene Wenger would like to return to having Olivier Giroud available off the bench as one of the best "Plan B" options in the Premier League. That won't really be possible until Theo Walcott, the only wide player who was regularly productive with Alexis playing centrally, returns to the line-up. The next best option for Wenger will be continuing to play Giroud through the middle with Alexis in a wide supporting role. Expect that alignment with one of Alex Iwobi, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain or Danny Welbeck playing the other wide role opposite Sanchez.

Slaven Bilic will run the rule over several players ahead of this weekend’s trip to the Riverside, but remains "optimistic" that none will miss out against Middlesbrough.

"We have a couple of players with knocks, Winston Reid is one of them. It is not painful," said Bilic during Thursdays press briefing. "Sam Byram got a knock on his knee and it was swollen so he didn’t train yesterday, but will today." Sofiane Feghouli is hampered by a slight Achilles issue and physios have told the Hammers boss that Andy Carroll was suffering from whiplash following his wonder strike in the 3-0 win over Swansea: "He has a sore neck so hopefully he’s going to be OK. He trained on Tuesday and was brilliant, but then he reported some neck pain." Payet continues to be frozen out: "I said everything then [last week] and what has changed now? Nothing. We took our stand very clearly and it stays the same. We aren’t going to sell our best players on the cheap just because somebody wants to sign them."

"BBC Sport" reports Manchester United have reached an agreement with Olympique Lyon over the transfer of Memphis Depay.

The explosive winger joined Manchester United in a £25 million deal prior in the summer of 2015 from PSV Eindhoven, where he was the Dutch league's top scorer, but his career at United will end in thoughts of what could have been. After rejecting a bid of £13 million, Manchester United accepted a £16 million bid from the Ligue 1 side with add-on fees that could rise to £21.7 million; although the deal is said to have a buyback clause for the 22-year-old, who is the club's second major sale this month after Morgan Schneiderlin.

While they've done just fine without him, Spurs will have to continue without winger Erik Lamela for the time being.

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino confirmed the Argentine international is still in Italy, where he is rehabbing with AS Roma doctors after missing the last the last two months with a hip injury; and it still looks like the attacker is weeks away from a full return. Said Pochettino: "It’s not important to say ‘one week, two weeks, three weeks’, it’s important he feels well and is recovering well after his injury. Our expectation is that when he arrives back we’ll test him and see what level he’s at, build his fitness and then see when he’ll be available to be involved again."

It looks like it will only be a one-week injury absence for Liverpool's Nathanial Clyne as he closes on a return.

The right-back was omitted from the lineup against Manchester United last weekend, as well as from Wednesday's FA Cup replay against Plymouth Argyle, due to a rib injury suffered in Gameweek 20. But manager Jurgen Klopp said Clyne is set to return for the weekend against Swansea City after Trent Alexander-Arnold impressed as his replacement: "It’s really painful, but now we know after a scan that there is nothing else and each day helps him to settle and get back on the pitch, if you want. So we give him for sure, we have to, two or three more days and then hopefully he can start running and all that stuff... He has a big chance, I think, for Swansea."

Leicester City forward Leonardo Ulloa has been the focus of interest from several clubs, and his future should be decided during the next few days.

The Leicester City Mercury is reporting that a club, believed to be La Liga side Deportivo Alaves, has submitted a bid for the 30-year-old Argentinian after representatives held talks on Tuesday. Sources close to Ulloa say the striker is considering handing in a formal transfer request as he has become frustrated with his lack of first team action, while clubs in Turkey and China are also rumored to be interested in his services. Ulloa, who joined Leicester from Brighton & Hove Albion in July of 2014, started 29 matches and scored 11 goals in debut campaign, but has been in the starting XI just eight times over the course of the last two seasons. Should Ulloa depart, Leicester would be left a little thin up front with Algerian striker Islam Slimani currently at the African Cup of Nations.
