Romelu Lukaku missed the fifth and final penalty for Chelsea during a 5-4 penalty shootout loss to Bayern Munich in the UEFA Super Cup.

The game finished 1-1 and the score after regulation time was 2-2. Lukaku came off the bench once again and ended up missing a game extending penalty. Fernando Torres started the game for Chelsea up top for Chelsea and scored an early goal to put himself in contention for the Chelsea starting spot, which now became harder with the signing of Samuel Eto'o. The other goal scorer was Eden Hazard in overtime. David Luiz, Oscar, Lampard, and Ashley Cole scored from the penalty spot during the penalty shootout.

Swansea City managed to win a goalfest last week but had no answers for Tottenham as Spurs scored five times unanswered to grab a 5-0 win.

It couldn't have been a much more one-sided affair. Tottenham managed over 20 shots on the day while Swansea mustered only one, which failed to go on target. The defense was exposed as the match wore on and the attack, which featured Gylfi Sigurdsson starting in a center forward role, had no answers. Despite conceding five, Lukasz Fabianski did well to keep the score from being even more embarrassing. Bob Bradley has been experimenting with several lineup variations but he is running out of combinations and the Swans look to be bad shape.

The results are starting to turn Sunderland's way, after a rocky start for David Moyes, with a 2-1 win against Leicester City on Saturday.

Star forward Jermain Defoe proved to be the difference maker once again with his insurance goal in the 77th minute to double the Black Cats' lead, slotting it past Ron-Robert Zieler for his eighth goal of the season, after Robert Huth put one into the back of his own net for the game's first goal. While Shinji Okazaki made it close in the end, Moyes' men were able to hold on for their third victory in the last four league matches to put them just one point away from leaving the bottom three. In team news, midfielders Jan Kirchhoff and Seb Larsson both came on at halftime to mark their returns from injury.

Leicester City is in serious danger of becoming a relegation candidate following a 2-1 loss to Sunderland.

After last season's magical run to the Premier League title, things have gotten all too real for Leicester City, who sits just two points out of the bottom three in 15th place with the danger of dropping to 17th by the end of the matchweek. The Foxes road trip to the Northeast started off poorly with the club facing a 2-0 deficit with less than 15 minutes remaining. The scoring began in the 64th minute when Robert Huth turned the ball into the back of his own net while Jermain Defoe adding one shortly thereafter, which made Shinji Okazaki's 80th-minute goal nothing but a consolation.

Jonathan Walters and Marc Muniesa provided first-half goals as Stoke City cruised to a 2-0 win over Burnley at home on Saturday.

Stoke City got off to a slow start but began to find their groove after defender Bruno Martins-Indi headed a Xhedran Shaqiri cross against the post. The Potters did take the lead 10 minutes later when Jonathan Walters netted his 40th Premier League goal for the club. Walters' goal was brilliant flick as he finished off a well-struck cross from Mame Diouf, following a one-two with Shaqiri. Stoke doubled their advantage in the 35th-minute when Marko Arnautovic's cross found Marc Muniesa, who hammered past Paul Robinson for his first career Premier League goal. The pair of first-half goals proved enough for Stoke to secure their second straight win and break into the top half of table, while the loss leaves Burnley just three points above the drop zone.

Tottenham were peppering the Swansea City net all afternoon, as Christian Eriksen led the way to a dominant 5-0 win.

Outside of a cut to the face of Kyle Walker in the early stages of the match, everything went right for Spurs today. Harry Kane opened the scoring from the spot after Dele Alli had been fouled on the edge of the area. Heung-min Son then smashed a scissor volley just before halftime with Eriksen supplying the assist. Kane got his brace four minutes into the second frame, smashing home a ball that looked teed up for Son. Eriksen would go on to score the final two goals, heading one home that deflected off of the keeper from an Alli shot, then scoring from a Moussa Sissoko pass. It has been a struggle for Spurs in recent weeks, but perhaps they can build off of this very convincing win.

Crystal Palace confounded all expectations and form to end their six match losing streak in the PL with a 3-0 win over Southampton at Selhurst Park.

Southampton's over-reliance on Charlie Austin up top was evident as they lacked cutting edge again. At the other end, uncharacteristic mistakes in defence cost them. After no shots in the first 20 mins, Benteke went close with a header from a Zaha cross before converting an early Christmas gift from Fraser Forster who missed a clearance due to a bobble. Almost instantly, the Eagles soared 2 ahead. This time it was the Saints defence who misstepped, leaving James Tomkins totally unmarked to poke in a Ledley cross from point-blank range. Southampton dominated possession in the second half and went closest through a Van Dijk header which cannnoned off the crossbar but Palace got their third from a corner which the Saint failed to deal with. Puncheon pulled back to Benteke who made no mistake for his brace. Palace were deserving winners, they ironed out many of their defensive kinks which were the cause of so much of their trouble this term.

Chelsea have now run off eight straight wins after coming from behind on Manchester City's ground to win, 1-3.

A very entertaining match from start to finish, despite the fact that only one shot on target was managed between both sides in the first half. The Blues fell behind just before the break though, when Gary Cahill turned a Jesus Navas cross into an own goal. The Blues went into another gear in the second half though, with Diego Costa being the leader of the attack. He leveled the match on the hour mark, collecting a clever over the top pass from Cesc Fabregas and finished in clinical fashion. Costa then fed a through-ball to Willian ten minutes later and Willian finished with a powerful shot. Eden Hazard wrapped up the scoring in the 90th minute, finding space after collecting a pass from Marcos Alonso. It's early days but Chelsea are certainly looking like potential champions right now.

Manchester City were ahead at halftime but were outplayed in the second frame, as Chlesea would score three times unanswered and the Citizens made matters worse with two players sent off in the final minute of the match.

There is plenty to dissect from both teams in this one, but Manchester City's 90 minutes of effort will be overshadowed by a terrible high tackle by Sergio Aguero on David Luiz in the game's dying moments. Aguero and the rest of the club were frustrated by some non-calls by the referee during the course of the match, particularly an event where Aguero appeared to have a chance a breaking through alone on goal but Luiz made contact that brought Aguero down. City also had a sitter missed by Kevin de Bruyne and a goal disallowed from a free kick because Fernandinho was offside. Fernandinho was also sent off following the Aguero tackle for his antics in the following fray resulting from the foul. Expect to see a run of starts for Kelechi Iheanacho coming.

Nemanja Matic, a steady presence in Antonio Conte's XI, was a surprise absence today, missing out with a minor thigh muscle injury.

It is not clear if Matic picked up the injury in training yesterday or sometime this morning, but the central midfielder misses his first league match of the season, in which he has started every one. It may come to some as a surprise that he is second in the league in assists, totaling seven so far. Cesc Fabregas deputizes today, getting a rare chance to start. Given the "minor" tag of the injury, Matic probably will be in contention next weekend for Chelsea.

Chelsea will put their seven-match Premier League winning streak on the line when they travel to Manchester City on Saturday.

Chelsea have won seven consecutive matches and conceded just once since the change to a back three, while their success has also been linked to star midfielder Eden Hazard. Hazard has been directly involved on six of his club's 19 goals during their unbeaten streak, scoring five and adding one assist. Hazard has scored seven league goals from 18 shots on target this season, and enters Week 14 as the most fouled player in the Premier League (44). Hazard will have a vital role to play on Saturday at the Etihad Stadium, as Chelsea go in search of their eight consecutive win for the first time since 2010.
Dec 2 - 3:27 PM

Jamie Vardy will look to end his nine-match goal draught when Leicester City travel to Sunderland on Saturday.

Vardy, who hasn't scored for Leicester since September, should have multiple chances to end his goal drought come Saturday's must-win away fixture. Vardy has struggled to find the net this season, as he's scored just two goals through 11 league matches this campaign--the striker had 11 goals at this point last season. The English international will look to bounce back against Sunderland after he failed to register a shot on target in a 2-2 draw with Middlesbrough last weekend.
