Carlton Cole is to undergo a medical exam in order to return to West Ham United this season.

After seven seasons at the club, Cole was let go at the end of last season. The Hammers struggled to sign a striker outside of Andy Carroll and desperately need help up top so they are determined to sign Carlton Cole once again. Cole would be a good addition to the struggling offense but how much playing time he gets will be tough to predict, as Andy Carroll is expected to make his return in West Ham's next match.

Burnley won't have winger Johann Berg Gudmundsson and midfielder Steven Defour available for the weekend.

The trip to Hull City comes too early for the duo as Gudmundsson has yet to recover from a knee injury sustained in a shocking FA Cup loss to Lincoln last weekend. Meanwhile, manager Sean Dyche confirmed that Defour is fit from a hamstring injury, but needs to regain match fitness before returning to the squad: "Johann has unfortunately tweaked a medial knee ligament, which is not too drastic but he's not going to be ready for the weekend...His injury is clear but now it's strength and fitness, of course, on the back of a few weeks out. He's actively back on the grass now."

Sunderland manager David Moyes confirmed that goalkeeper Jordan Pickford is available to face Everton this weekend.

The young goalkeeper has missed the last two months after suffering a knee injury on Boxing Day against Manchester United. But Pickford took the FA Cup break to recover fully, playing for the U23s last week, and now has a chance to retake his starting position from Vito Mannone on Saturday. Said Moyes: "I have a choice to make over the goalkeepers because Jordan Pickford is now back in training. I’m very fortunate to have two very good 'keepers and it’s the sort of decision you want to have. We have to see if Jordan’s ready because he’s been out for a while, but he’s training and he looks fine."

Sunderland midfielder Jan Kirchhoff has returned to training, but will not be available to face Everton this weekend.

The former Bayern Munich defender has returned a month ahead of schedule from knee surgery on his meniscus, but manager David Moyes said he didn't want to risk Kirchhoff this weekend despite him returning to training. Meanwhile, Steven Pienaar could also miss out due to a muscle injury: "Jan Kirchhoff has been training this week but he’s not quite ready to play. He needs more training because as we know he’s been out for the best part of eight to ten weeks, so we’ll give him another week in training and see how he is. Steven Pienaar has a little bit of problem with his calf, but apart from that we’re okay."

Xherdan Shaqiri is back in training and should be available to Mark Hughes for Stoke City's trip to White Hart Lane.

Shaqiri has had another on-again, off-again season due to injuries and it appears that we are back in "on-again" mode heading into Week 26. Given the opposition and what must be a lack of sharpness due to the Swiss international's inability to stay healthy it is hard to imagine Shaqiri being particularly productive this weekend. That said, with players from Manchester City, Manchester United, Southampton, and Arsenal all not playing due to the EFL Cup Final Shaqiri's value is at least a little higher than it would be if this were a match week featuring all 20 teams playing.

US international Geoff Cameron is close to a return from a knee injury but Week 26 looks like it will be too soon.

Cameron started the season playing regularly for Mark Hughes but a knee injury that has lingered since the end of October has set him back. He has resumed training with the Potters but appears unlikely to be ready for the Week 26 trip to White Hart Lane. Given the opposition, it probably wouldn't be a wise situation to reintroduce him to the line-up. Look for Cameron to start getting at least some playing time starting in Week 27, most likely as a substitute.

Jonny Evans finally returned in Week 25 with a substitute appearance against West Ham but his status as a starter is still very much in question.

Albion are playing well over recent weeks with a back four featuring two outside backs - Chris Brunt and Alan Nyom - along with two center backs - Gareth McAuley and Craig Dawson. Compared to earlier in the season when Evans was starting regularly as part of a three or four CB alignment there just aren't as many spots. Evans' first match back lent credence to the notion that he may have to content himself with a spot as a key reserve rather than as a starter for at least the time being if not longer.

After recovering from his illness, Claudio Yacob was a substitute in Week 25 while Jake Livermore started again at the base of midfield.

Given the amount of money paid for Livermore and the success he has experienced since Yacob went out with an illness in Week 24, it could well be that Livermore has pushed past Yacob as the starter for Tony Pulis. If you have to make a decision as to which you think is more likely to start in Week 26 against Bournemouth, where another Albion win is a reasonable expectation, then Livermore should be the odds-on favorite.

Christian Kabasele will miss the visit of West Ham to Vicarage Road in Week 26 due to a calf injury.

Kabasele isn't necessarily a sure starter when the entire Watford defense is healthy but with Craig Cathcart and Sebastian Prodl both questionable he was more likely to see action if he'd been healthy. As it is he isn't healthy and Watford could be facing something of a defensive crisis if Cathcart and Prodl miss out as well. Keep this in mind when evaluating what you think you might get from Watford defenders (and Gomes) as well as West Ham attackers this weekend.

Eddie Howe has given an injury update on Simon Francis and more ahead of the Cherries' GW26 game with West Brom.

Simon Francis has been ruled out of the weekend's game after suffering a setback to a hamstring problem. Howe also added that playmaker Jack Wilshere is in a race against time to see if he will be ready to face the Baggies. He has had an ankle problem but may still make the game if he comes through a late assessment. Aside from those two, the only major absentee is Callum Wilson, with other players who had niggles feeling refreshed after a two week break. On those players Howe added: "We had a few other players nursing injuries so the two-week break was a good thing to try to get those ones that weren't quite right back to full fitness."

In spite of failing to acquire his signature in the January transfer window, Bournemouth are still rumoured to be chasing the signing of Asmir Begovic.

Eddie Howe looked to replace current starter Artuc Boruc in January to try and deal with Bournemouth's poor defensive record of late. However, Antonio Conte revelaed at the time that Chelsea could not accept an offer for the Bosnian unless both a £12m price tag was met and Chelsea found a new backup for Courtois. Chelsea sought Craig Gordon to pave the way for Begovic to move, but the initiative was ultimately unsuccessful. Begovic has sat idle for most of this season for the Blues, making six appearances in total.

Hull City manager Marco Silva has confirmed that striker Abel Hernandez will not be leaving the club this month in spite of reported interest from China.

The Portuguese also clarified that the Tigers have not received any bids for the Uruguayan. Rumours had circulated in Italian media about a potential move, but speaking ahead of Hull's must-win match against Burnley, he said: "Until now I don't have an offer for Abel... I do not know nothing about the offers for Abel. I don't know nothing about it, what I want is for the players to focus on the team." It was also revealed that Hernandez is back in contention for selection for Saturday's clash after recovering from a hamstring injury.
