Marouane Fellaini's debut with Manchester United was an auspicious one with his new side winning 4-2.

Wayne Rooney may have been the star of the show but the new midfield of Marouane Fellaini and Shinji Kagawa conspired to control possession. That possession led to a dominant performance that could have seen United score as many as six goals against credible competition. This will be big news ahead of the Manchester Derby with both combatants having been less than impressive in over the first four weeks of the season. The next question to be answered relative to Fellaini will be exactly how his role translates into fantasy statistics.

Leicester City midfielder Marc Albrighton returned to the squad this weekend and started against Newcastle.

Marc Albrighton had missed a number of games despite being healthy and wasn't even being included in the matchday squad. That changed this weekend with a start against Newcastle but the winger didn't do too much to impress Nigel Pearson. He struck the crossbar early on but failed to cause any other danger in front of Tim Krul. He walked away from the match with five Yahoo! fantasy points but we aren't excited about his future fantasy potential just yet. Stay away for now.

Enner Valencia scored his second Premier League goal over the weekend, showing fans why West Ham brought him in over the summer.

The popular signing has had a relatively quiet season so far but showed what the hype is all about this weekend with a goal. We expect Valencia to score more than once every four games(current rate), but the problem we have is that the striker doesn't contribute many points outside of goals. Good fantasy players return points even without scoring, and Valencia needs to step it up in that regard to become a better asset. With that in mind, at £ 6.99M, he could be a great differential play against lesser teams.

Aston Villa defender Ron Vlaar was active in his return to action this weekend and finished with eight fantasy points.

The Villa defender registered two blocked shots, two passes intercepted, and two tackles won. That was decent for someone just returning from injury and Vlaar showed why he is a valid fantasy option even without a clean sheet. He is cheap enough in most formats to where he makes for an excellent choice in plus matchups. Villa just came out of a very rough stretch of matches and their schedule gets easier with QPR, Tottenham, West Ham, Southampton, Burnley, Crystal Palace, Leicester City, and West Brom up next.

Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton continues to impress fantasy managers and provided his owners with ten points this weekend.

Hutton didn't get a clean sheet but provided stats in five different categories to get to the double digit points mark this weekend. He has 69% more points than the second highest fantasy scorer on his team - Andreas Weimann. For a defender to pull of something like this is incredible. On top of that, Hutton is the fourth best fantasy defender this year, ahead of the likes of Nathaniel Clyne, Branislav Ivanovic, and Patrick van Aanholt. Being owned by only 5.05% of Yahoo! managers, Hutton is a fantastic differential play going forward.

Tottenham Hotspur welcome Greek side Asteras Tripolis to White Hart Lane on Thursday night in the Europa League and Mauricio Pochettino will be hoping his side can secure their first win in Group C at their third attempt.

Ahead of the game Pochettino confirmed the absence of full-backs Kyle Walker [pelvic] and Kyle Naughton [ankle] - both long term - although the pair are hoping to be back action by November after resuming light training. Algerian international Nabil Bentaleb has also been ruled out after missing Saturdays’ defeat to Manchester City because of an ankle problem which he suffered during the African Cup of Nations qualifier against Malawi. The full extent of the injury is not yet known although it is understood that the Tottenham midfielder could have a chance of returning on Sunday when Newcastle United arrive in London. Jan Vertonghen could be promoted from the substitutes bench after the Argentine manager denied any rift between the two while Aaron Lennon is expected to make the match-day squad.

Swansea midfielder Ki Sung-Yueng is quietly having a decent season, including a 13 point performance on Sunday.

Ki Sung-Yueng has been doing fine for Swansea this season but the problem with using him in fantasy is consistency and upside. When Ki has a good game by his standards, it's something like this weekend, 13 points. What you want in fantasy in Ki's price range is someone who almost guarantees you five points but can explode for 25 any given week. Avoid Ki unless you're in a really deep draft league.

Mario Balotelli was subbed out at halftime during today's Champions League match between Liverpool and Real Madrid.

This is bad news for Balotelli, who is already having a bad season. The Italian striker has not meshed well in Liverpool's fast paced squad and has struggled to score. In fact, Super Mario has zero goals in six Premier League matches despite having 30 shots. Balotelli has done enough to keep himself fantasy relevant without scoring but he is far from a great fantasy option. He is a high risk, high reward player who can be used by adventurous fantasy managers.

Michael Dawson contributed to a solid outing against Arsenal on Saturday but faces the possibility of time out with an injured ankle.

Apparently the North London rivalry didn't recede from Michael Dawson's consciousness despite his move to Hull City. In his first post-Spurs match against Arsenal he contributed four blocked shots, two tackles, two interceptions and even managed a shot on target for a massive 15 point performance in the Yahoo format. Enthusiasm will be slightly tempered though as he now faces questions over an ankle issue. Check back later in the week for a more definitive assessment of the injury and his status for Week 9 and beyond.

Craig Gardner isn't a big name but he continues to churn out extremely solid fantasy results as West Brom recover from their early season swoon.

If you had bet on Craig Gardner being among the Baggies' better fantasy midfielders at the beginning of the season you'd probably have been looked at like you were a bit mad. And rightly so. There was very little in his history to indicate that Gardner would start churning out high single digit and low double digit fantasy performances (in the Yahoo format) but that's exactly what he's been doing. Two blocked shots, four interceptions and three tackles were the formula this week and that isn't too much different that what he's generally been producing.

Danny Welbeck was at it again over the weekend scoring late to secure Arsenal a point in their 2-2 draw with Hull City.

The England striker hasn't quite lived up to the hopes of Arsenal supporters who thought he might turn out to be Daniel Sturridge 2.0 after his move from Manchester United. While Welbeck hasn't been quite as spectacular as Sturridge was upon his move to Liverpool he has been effective. Against Hull City he notched his second Premier League goal in five starts while pulling his overall total to five goals in seven starts across all competitions. It will be interesting to see if he can scale further heights if Arsenal ever get a healthy first choice eleven on the field at the same time.

Kieran Gibbs enjoyed another strong outing from a fantasy point of view even if the end result for Arsenal was far from satisfactory.

The big knock against Kieran Gibbs the real player and the fantasy player has been his propensity to be injured frequently. When he has played this season he has taken his game to a new level, especially at the attacking end of the pitch. Perhaps the presence of Alexis Sanchez in front of him is giving him more opportunity but whatever the reason, Gibbs has strung together a number of strong "phantom point" performances including this week's that included a shot on target, two successful crosses, a corner won, two interceptions and two tackles. If only Arsenal could keep a clean sheet.
