After being a late scratch for the Manchester Derby, Robin van Persie is fit to return to the United line-up for Week 6 against West Brom.

The way the item is written there appears to be at least a slight doubt as to whether van Persie WILL feature but there is no doubt that he is healthy enough to do so. With United needing Premier League points in the worst way, it seems likely that RvP will be restored to the starting eleven. If the phrasing of the update makes you a little uneasy though, there are lots of alternatives.

Roberto Martinez has revealed that Everton full-back Leighton Baines is likely to miss the Stoke City game on Wednesday after picking up a thigh injury during training on Friday.

Baines has been struggling of late with a knee problem and was rested as a precaution for the Europa League game against BSC Young Boys on Thursday but "took a knock to the quad" as the squad prepared for the trip to the Emirates. The England international is very doubtful for the trip to the Britannia while it is "hoped" Baines can return for the quarter-final clash against Dynamo Kiev in 11 days’ time. In his absence and with Bryan Oviedo sidelined because of a hamstring injury youngster Luke Garbutt is likely to deputise after two solid performances. Everton slumped to 14th in the Premier League following their 11th defeat of the season on Sunday and under pressure boss Martinez will be hoping for a change of fortune in GW28.

Gylfi Sigurdsson was a noticeable absentee on Saturday as Swansea travelled to Turf Moor to take on Burnley in a game which would mark their second Premier League record in a matter of 7 days.

Following on from last weekends’ first ever league double over Manchester United Swansea were able to hit the 40 point mark in record time to all but guarantee that the Jacks remain in the top-flight next season. Even more impressive was the manner of the victory – a hard fought battling display which maybe lacked the panache and guile normally associated with Swansea demonstrating a tougher more resilient side without their star man. A hamstring injury curtailed any involvement for Sigurdsson but Tom Carroll gave an assured display while a Jack Cork effort [which hit the crossbar] was turned in by the unfortunate Kieran Trippier to seal the win. The Icelandic international joins Kyle Bartley [the only other sidelined player] in the treatment room.

West Brom will be hoping the injury news on strike duo Brown Ideye and Saido Berahino is positive after the pair limped out of Saturdays’ win over Southampton potentially leaving Tony Pulis without a recognised centre-forward for Tuesdays’ derby at Villa Park.

Following the deadline day collapse of his move away from the Hawthorns Ideye has thrived under Tony Pulis and is now beginning to look like the hot prospect he was once touted. The Nigerian international has formed an excellent partnership with team mate Saido Berahino and the pair have enjoyed a lot of success in front of goal recently [7 in 5 games]. But post-match on Saturday Pulis revealed the pair were being assessed after picking up knocks – a concern given both had been struggling prior to GW27 and needed pain-killing injections. With such a short turnaround the medical team will need to work hard to give either a chance although Victor Anichebe could return following his recent recovery from a groin complaint.

Stewart Downing has slowed down in recent weeks after a hot start to the season.

The West Ham midfielder has not been horrific but also hasn't shown the form he was displaying early in the season. He's averaged just 6.5 fantasy points over the last four weeks in the Yahoo! game and at this point, there are better players in his price range that you should be considering. Take him out of your Yahoo! lineup while he regains form, but keep him in draft leagues.

Aston Villa's players continue to struggle in both real life and fantasy.

This was a horrific week for Aston Villa. They lost yet another match, this time to Newcastle, and their players couldn't produce any fantasy worthy stats. The best scorer of the week for them was Ciaran Clark, who came out with eight fantasy points, but there isn't a single player we would recommend owning in the Yahoo! game in the coming weeks. There is just too much inconsistency and lack of upside.

Chelsea won the Capital One Cup today with a 2-0 win over Tottenham.

Chelsea started the match with a surprising lineup, placing Kurt Zouma in defensive midfield to replace the suspended Nemanja Matic. The move placed them in a slight disadvantage as they seemed to struggle early on, but Tottenham couldn't capitalize despite hitting the crossbar. The Blues gained the advantage late in the first half after John Terry finished a deflected ball in the box. A Kyle Walker own goal doubled the advantage in the second half and Chelsea cruised to their first title of the year. Chelsea players are great investments at the moment as they'll have a double gameweek in the near future.

Captain Phil Jagielka made a saving block but then deflected a Tomas Rosicky shot into his own net as Everton dropped a 2-0 decision to Arsenal.

Coming off a big boost in Europe Cup action and facing an Arsenal team who looked bad in Europe both clubs reverted to form as Arsenal won 2-0 at the Emirates. Everton had a few solid chances but they couldn't capitalize while their opponents were more clinical and rode that finishing to a win.

Arsenal recovered from their mid-week embarrassment against Monaco with a 2-0 win over Everton.

Olivier Giroud started the scoring with a volley from a corner kick. The goal got the French forward back on track after he let two good opportunities go begging in mid-week. Tomas Rosicky scored a late goal to ice the match although he got help from a deflection.

Steve Bruce revealed post-match on Saturday that Robbie Brady suffered a "horrible calf injury" in training which could sideline the midfielder [come defender] for "weeks or maybe months."

The news of his absence will come as a massive blow to the Tigers as Brady has been in great form and this latest setback effectively rules the player out of a number of crucial games against teams around them at the bottom including Sunderland and Leicester City. Bruce was also forced into two other changes prior to the loss at the Britannia as the boss decided not to risk top scorer Nikica Jelavic – the striker is managing an ongoing knee complaint and cannot play two games in quick succession though he should be available on Tuesday. The in-form Dame N’Doye was also restricted to a place on the bench after spending most of last week travelling to Russia presumably tying up loose ends following his last-minute move during the January window.

The win over Hull City on Saturday was overshadowed by the horrific injury sustained by Stoke City midfielder Stephen Ireland who required 10 stitches in an open wound which left manager Mark Hughes fuming at another poor refereeing performance.

Ireland was the unfortunate recipient of a Maynor Figueroa tackle from behind which went unpunished by the referee and was missed by the assistant who was within 10 yards of the incident. Hughes will be speaking to the FA and seeking retrospective action following the challenge which he described as career threatening. The injury is likely to keep Ireland sidelined for at least a month and is the latest in a long line of problems this term which include muscular, knee and chest injuries. Fortunately for Stoke their midfield quota is relatively well-stocked at the moment with Steve Sidwell, Charlie Adam, Geoff Cameron and Marko Arnautovic all potential replacements.

Philippe Coutinho scored a stunning winner as Liverpool dented Manchester City's Premier League title defence with a deserved victory at Anfield.

This was a great match between very good sides, but in the end Liverpool shaded it and deservedly took the three points. Jordan Henderson's curling effort put the Reds ahead before Edin Dzeko finished off Sergio Aguero's great pass to equalise after a slick team move. That was how an even match stayed until half time, but Liverpool came out with renewed energy in the second half and their pressure eventually told when Brazilian midfielder Coutinho capped a man of the match display with the decisive goal with another curling strike from 25 yards. The result leaves Man City five points behind Chelsea having played a game more, while Liverpool move to fifth and are on a run of 11 Premier League matches without defeat
