Andros Townsend has pledged to eradicate diving from his game after being booked for simulation in Tottenham's 1-1 draw with Chelsea.

Townsend has been guilty of 'falling theatrically' before, but this was the first time he has been punished by a referee and it sounds like it could be a defining moment in the 22-year-old's development. "It was definitely a yellow card. I deserved it," the Spurs winger said, "I have got to kick it out of my game.". Townsend has gone on record with these quotes, so one hopes it will be the last time we see it from him.

Garry Monk confirmed post-match on Wednesday that striker Bafetimbi Gomis had been taken to hospital as a precaution following his collapse on the field of play moments after Tottenham opened the scoring.

Since his teenage years Gomis has been subject to vasovagal episodes [fainting] caused by a drop in his blood pressure although the striker has not had any issues since moving from Lyon last summer. Gomis has been subjected to a battery of medical tests and in particular back in 2009 when the player fainted three times in one season [twice in a week] but despite the obvious worry to teammates and backroom staff [caused by the blackouts] the player himself is not overly concerned. With 12 days until their next Premier League fixture Gomis should be okay but given his lack of form Monk may decide to remove his striker from the limelight and afford Nelson Oliveira or Marvin Emnes an opportunity for a run within the first team.

Manchester City returned to winning ways as David Silva's close-range goal increased battling Leicester City's relegation worries.

This was far from an easy win for City, but the three points is all that matters, Silva struck from close range right on half time following Wes Morgan's brilliant block of the Spaniard's first effort, but Leicester played well and were denied a penalty when Fernando tripped Andrej Kramaric on the edge of Man City's area. Riyad Mahrez's also struck the post but James Milner killed the game off two minutes from time to complete a 2-0 win.

Alexis Sanchez hasn't been at his best since a late January injury spell but he broke out of his slump in style with a goal and an incisive pass on another in Arsenal's 2-1 win over QPR at Loftus Road.

Sanchez was lively for the entire match and his goal was a just reward for an impressive assault. QPR were competitive in the first half but didn't come out of the dressing room well and saw Arsenal score rapid-fire goals in the 64th and 69th minutes. Things got a little nervous down the stretch as poor defending from Laurent Koscielny and Kieran Gibbs gave Charlie Austin a chance to score that he capitalized on from just outside the box.
Mar 4 - 4:38 PM

Charlie Austin scored another goal but his team couldn't come back from a 2-0 deficit and dropped a 2-1 decision to Arsenal at Loftus Road.

Charlie Austin continued his goal-scoring ways in the second half but his heroics, once again, weren't enough for QPR to claim any much-needed points in the London Derby with Arsenal. The Rs played well in a nil-nil first half but couldn't resist Arsenal as they came out on fire in the second half. The Gunners scored twice within five minutes in the 64th and 69th minutes and then held on as QPR pressure mounted after Austin's goal.

Ashley Young scored in the 89th minute to save Manchester United blushes after a listless performance at St James Park.

Manchester United dominated all of the statistical categories against Newcastle but their performance was in danger of producing another disappointing result until Ashley Young scored in the 89th minute. There was controversy as Chris Smalling was lucky no to be called for a first half penalty for a push on Emmanuel Riviere and Jonny Evans and Papiss Cisse were involved in a spitting incident that could have seen either player sent off. It wasn't a thing of beauty but it was another three points for United as they look to hold on to fourth place.
Mar 4 - 4:41 PM

Papiss Cisse was at the center of a spitting incident that could see both he and Jonny Evans retrospectively banned as Newcastle United lost to Manchester United on an Ashley Young goal at the death.

The Magpies and their supporters have a right to feel hard done by after they lost a close match to Manchester United right at the end. You'd think that Fergie Time was back again with Ashley Young scoring late and United getting the benefit of the referee looking the other way on a few key incidents. The first was a foul by Chris Smalling on Emmanuel Riviere in the box early in the first half that failed to net John Carver's side a penalty. The second came when Jonny Evans spit at Papiss Cisse after the two collided. Cisse responded by spitting back. The official either didn't see or didn't choose to call either incident.

Eden Hazard scored early on to give Chelsea a 1-0 win over West Ham United.

In what was a very tough matchup, Chelsea were able to win a valuable three points today by seeing off West Ham United. The Blues started Kurt Zouma in midfielder once again but were able to survive without Nemanja Matic by not conceding a goal. It was a match that featured a number of high quality saves from both goalkeepers, with Hazard's chance clearly the moment of the match. The Blues have a five point lead on top of the table and have an extra match left to play over second place Manchester City.

Victor Moses scored in the 32nd minute and Mame Biram Diouf iced it late as Stoke City heaped more misery on Everton with a 2-0 win at the Britannia.

It has been a rotating cast of characters for Stoke City as injury and squad rotation have led to what seems to be an ever-changing starting eleven. Victor Moses, who appears to be back to his early-season form after a lengthy injury layoff, scored the opener from a Phil Bardsley cross. Stoke City held the 1-0 advantage until the 84th minute when Mame Biram Diouf put the match away from short range.
Mar 4 - 4:49 PM

Everton continue to look a shell of last year's surprise package as they dropped another decision, this time 2-0 to Stoke City at the Britannia.

Luke Garbutt started his second consecutive Premier League match and Everton dropped a second consecutive 2-0 away match. Everton haven't been great under any circumstances this season but the absence of Leighton Baines is yet another barrier to them recovering the form they showed last season. The 21-year-old Garbutt may have a bright future but with a relegation scrap getting closer and closer this isn't the time that Roberto Martinez will want to find out about his young left back.
Mar 4 - 4:55 PM

Daniel Sturridge scored in Liverpool's 2-0 win over Burnley.

Liverpool were clearly the better team today as they enjoyed 63% of possession and dominated Burnley by putting up 20 shots compared to Burnley's 9. Sturridge and Jordan Henderson both scored as the scoreboard agreed with the game story. Sturridge is finally fit enough to play the full 90 minutes and is a must own fantasy player in all draft leagues. He is also a great option in the Yahoo! game due to his relatively low ownership percentage. Use him with confidence going forward.

Tottenham earned a first win in six games as they bounced back from losing the League Cup final by beating Swansea.

A thrilling game ended 3-2 to Tottenham, but that only tells half the story. Spurs took the lead through Nacer Chadli but that hardly mattered when, minutes later, Swansea's Gomis collapsed on the pitch and had to be stretched off. The game restarted and Ki Sunng-Yueng equalised for the visitors within 10 minutes after Gylfi Sigurdsson's free kick had hit the post. That was how it stayed until the second half when Spurs turned the screw and scored twice through Ryan Mason and a fine individual goal from Andros Townsened to make it 3-1. The home side were in complete control until Sigurdsson hit a volley with two minutes to go to set up a grand stand finish. Swansea pressed but Hugo Lloris made a world class save in injury time to ensure the game ended 3-2.
